Default Mail issues

Hello,
Long time lurker as my parents lived here for 12 years, Mom passed in May, but Dad still here. Has anyone been having mail issues? It seems that in my Dad's and some of his neighbor's cases mail isn't coming in a timely matter. It is OK as almost everything I set up auto pay but things needed for taxes have not arrived. Also statements have been late... all is fine but am just a little concerned. Thanks.

Some tax forms are late this year because of the late decision on fiscal cliff tax items. I have not received investment forms for dividends and capital gains. My investment firm will have them mailed by mid- Feb. instead of the usual, Jan. 31.

I mailed five greeting cards (to three different addresses) over a week ago to my grandchildren from the mailboxes in Liberty Village. They were going to NJ. They never got there. Very strange.

Default re mail issues

It is not just the tax items. I set up most things auto pay and statements have not arrived. Dad is very good at knowing when things come in the mail. One pension statement was 3 days late the other still has not arrived. Neighbors have said their mail is late also. Have been trying to call post office in Lady Lake no one picks up.

I've noticed that receiving mail from NY takes at least a week to arrive in our mail box at the Duval mail center. This is nothing new. It's been taking this long to receive mail for at least four seasons that we are here.

I mailed a package and check to my great nephews on Dec. 12. They live in Spokane, WA on the Air Force Base. Finally got a phone call last week that they received the package. Do they treat military bases different that civilians?

Default Why there are issues with the USPS

There are a lot of sorting and distribution centers that have been closed even prior to Christmas. This causes longer times and in some cases confusion and misrouting of mail. Unfortunately this will continue until management stops cutting services to save money that can only be stopped by congress. The carriers and clerks really want to do a good job. But they are hampered by managements misdirectives. Tell your congressman that you have had enough of this poor service and reinstate the USPS to its full capability by removing the pre funding of medical insurance for retirees 20 years from now at a cost of 5.5 BILLION dollars every year for 10 years.

Spot on. the biggest problem with the Postal Service is Congress.

But what can we do when Congress won't listen to us? My frustration level over those strange people who make decisions for us knows no bounds.
