I thought I had a solid understanding on how to look up a bond balance, until I came across this house on Zillow.
Access to this page has been denied I loaded up the Villages find my district page and typed in the address, which revealed the house is in District 8, Sumter County. I took this information to the Villages bond balance webpage for District 8, unit 170 which was listed in the listing description. Now the confusing part. The listing states a 2010 house, the bond balance sheet starts at year 2018? The other odd part, the listing states it is Parcel number: D28K129, which does not seem to match the parcel number on the bond balance sheet which states D28K304. Is there a method to figure out what the actual unit/parcel numbers are? I am assuming the Zillow listing is in error?? Any suggestions? |

District 8, unit 170 is a collection of homes, not just one. The parcel number should have been left off the bond sheet posted on the districtgov page to avoid confusion. 2018 is the year for the current issue of the bond which in this case is not the original issue of the bond. The bonds are typically 30 year bonds but the sheet you saw shows only 20 years remaining. What likely happened was the 30 year bond issued in 2008 was reissued (or whatever the correct term is) in 2018 to get a better interest rate with the end date remaining the same. For my home, the 2013 bond was reissued in 2022 and now shows a 21 year payoff rather than a 30 year.
