I spent the weekend packing up my parents and Monday and Tuesday moving them from an assisted living in Virginia to SumterPlace here in the Villages. Dealing with endless questions, problems, and just plain fatigue from managing two wheelchairs, I was feeling pretty sorry for myself Tuesday at Dulles Airport waiting to board the flight to Orlando. Then the gate folks told me that we had been moved from number 1 to board to number 2.

A young child named Samuel arrived in his power chair with tubes everywhere and suction and ventilator and all kinds of stuff to keep him alive. In addition to his parents, there were 2 carts full of equipment and supplies to keep him alive and safe for the journey and 2 nurses to help care for him. He is a Make a Wish Child on his way to Disney World.

Put into perspective, my problems were pretty small.

Thank you, Bizdoc. We all need reminders to count our blessings instead of licking our wounds.

From every account I've been told about Sumter Place, from relatives of residents and volunteers who joyfully help there, it is caring, sociable and lovely place. I hope your parents are exceedingly happy there.....I think they will be because of being close to you, a dedicated and steadfast son or daughter.

A little reality break, we often take for granted the blessings we have and look at the hardships. There but for the grace of God go I. Good to get our priorities re established sometimes>

How easy it is the forget our blessings. Thanksgiving is not the only time of the year we should reflect on counting our blessings but all year long.

Was driving down the road yesterday enjoying another beautiful day in TV.

Old adage - I was feeeling down about my feet aching and saw the person sitting next to me had no feet.
