Default Kudos to Shell Oil

Two weeks ago in our service vehicle we received $90 worth of bad gasoline from the Shell and service station on 441 just north of Rolling Acres Blvd. We got 5 miles away and our Dodge pickup and trailer came to a stall. We then were towed to ourChrysler/Dodge dealer where they pumped out $90 worth of bad gasoline and replaced 8 spark plugs fora total bill of $610.

The good news is Shell picked up the entire tab and reimbursed us for the repairs and lost fuel along with their apologizes for the bad drop of fuel they received. So Kudos to Shell they made good out of bad.

Nice to know they took care of it pronto, and I am sure they appreciate your post here should they see it.

good for you and for shell!

shell shoud have shut down that gas station and pumped out those tanks!

has anyone ever had a good experience at that service station? i have yet to hear of one in the three winters we have been there. i can personally attest to the rudeness of the three employees i have encountered in the convenience shop. there might be other emps - but i never met them - i go out of my way to avoid contributing to that store's/station's success.

Wow! You are fortunate. Years ago, I patronized a Shell station near my house and the freeway for all my gas. One day, I filled up my car and only got about 4 miles away when it died. I had it towed to the dealer and they drained the tank and got gallons of bright orange gas(?). The fuel injectors were ruined, the catalytic converter was ruined, spark plugs too. Total for repairs was almost $2400. Shell fought me tooth and nail. I sent them some of the gas to analyze and they said it was too small a sample to test. (I sent a quart. I burned some of the other samples I had on a clean steel plate and it left a sticky residue unlike any gas I have seen.) The station operator admitted the tank was almost empty when I was there. Finally, as I was about to get legal representation, they agreed to reimburse part of the cost by deducting the mileage I had on the car from the average lifespan of the parts replaced. Never used a Shell station again.

There is a Shell station north of where I am that sold bad gas a couple of years ago and ruined many cars (and it wasn't from the bottom of the tank). I think once it hit the local news they made it good. I have heard of this happening at Shell stations but not other brands. Wonder why? A friend who flies helicopters for Shell to their oil wells in the gulf said he would never use Shell in any of his cars! I won't use Shell either. (well, I did put some in a rental car on a trip when I couldn't find another brand nearby!)

Have a station number for this Shell? Would like to know which gas stations I should probably avoid.

It take it you mean this one-- Shell Station

It is really just luck of the draw when it comes to bad gas. Remember when I was back in college the folks drove up to visit...barely made it. Inched the car in not knowing what was wrong with it. Turned out bad gas...they ended up trading the vehicle for a new one at the dealership because it was a weekend and the repair dept wasnt open and yeah anyway, after it was determined what it was (dealer got back to us) the station did end up paying up. I hate to say this but I believe it was a Shell station but in Oklahoma. Parents avoided Shell for a long time I do remember that. And if there was one person having a problem, there were others.
