My only objection, is that they will crowd up our rec centers even more than they are now. In the Villages, I don' t believe they will say no to a Mom 30 yo and her child of 10 for cardio drumming.

Senior classes should be senior and the same in reverse. We do require a bit of specialization in our class due to restrictions.

You need a Villages ID to use the rec centers. I didn't think these workers were able to get an ID.

Retiredguy is correct. They will not pay amenity fees nor be about to use the amenities...

The family housing TV is building will have their own pools, rec centers, etc...

Actually, 7 years ago most people could leave their doors open here in La,La Land and keys in golf carts. it is relatively recently that crime has caught up with the "Bubble" here. Parts of New Jersey and New York seem to have been high crime areas for maybe 4 generations.

Bah, we’ve seen crime here 7 years ago and prior to that. More people, more crime.

And contrary to what you THINK, REAL wages have DROPPED in the past year, due to the RECENT massive inflation, which was extremely low just a few years back (1.4%, IIFC, vs 8.9% last Summer/Fall)...

And The VILLAGES isn't PROVIDING anything. They are building houses for sale to families. And exactly what jobs are the villages supplying at minimum wage (other than part time rec center and golf course jobs)?

And new sports? You mean like "rock climbing" and "roller blade obstacle courses"? AKA, "broken hip specials"? We get it, you hate golf, but your incessant bashing and false claims about the sport are getting tiresome...

The 1st sentence IS true, but misleading. Wages were high in terms of actual dollars. But, wages have been STAGNATE in terms of CONSTANT DOLLARS for at least the last 20 years. Constant dollars factor in inflation, which even back 2 years or more had been moving at about a 2% CLIP year over year. Constant dollars give a person the idea of what could have BEEN purchased say for 10 dollars in 1990 and how much LESS you can buy with $10 today.
.......In other words, money CHANGES VALUE over time. IN 1965 if I looked around I could buy a running (with some cosmetic problems) USED automobile for $600. I even purchased a 1981 station wagon AUDI with a slant FIVE engine in about 1995 for $600. Today $ 600 will barely buy you a nice new bicycle.
.........The reason I "bash" golf is that I don't consider it a sport - much like shooting pool. Pool is a skill not a sport. Golf is just played on a BIGGER green table. Which wastes good forest land, but I digress. I just find it humorous how SO MANY people in V Land go ALL ga,ga over GOLF. it's like follow the leader......you golf so I MUST FOLLOW AND golf. Golf has some small redeaming qualities. I have sometimes at twilight when no one is looking......taken out a 9 iron and a plastic ball and hit it around a park and ran after it. I have even used a real golf ball and hit some 9 iron shots on a nearby fairway.SSSHHHHUUUSSSHHHH don't DARE tell anyone, I don't want to ruin my reputation. Golf NEEDS people like me to balance out all the Ga, Ga men golfers, and all the Lady GA GA golfers. See how I got to the punch line. Anyone, anyone.

Yup! Every time the gubmint raised how much you could borrow, schools increased tuition by a similar amount...

But that doesn't take into account that less and less money is being spent on actually teaching the students as more and more money is being spent on useless administrators...

That said, let me finish with this........If you have 1X number of people and you the add 1X number of illegal immigrants with no education or shots and disease then you end up with 2.5 times the crime. Real wages HAVE NOT increased in the last 2 years. The average American family has $4200 LESS in spending power...

They have SHRUNK 3% with the current administration.

Anyone who thinks $20/hour is gross overpayment should try to live on $41,600/year.

When the cast member at Disney walks into his/her Walmart, guess what? Their eggs cost just as much as Joe Retiree living on a "fixed income". Gas costs just as much, but the working stiff has to buy more of it.

If you can't afford to tip the person behind the counter, or it brings a financial hardship to you, don't do it. But if that's the case, probably spending money on fast-food meals is not a great choice either.

I totally agree with whoever it was in a previous post who said watching too much TV news, whether it be CNN or FOX is a recipe for misery. Get out, breathe some Florida air, be glad we are not bracing for that ice storm. Try to enjoy the few precious days we have left. Don't let some TV newsperson with too much make-up spoil your day.

Carry on.

Hey, thanks- :) The post you are referencing was #44 in this bizarro thread. That post was mine,

The “news” is causing so much anger— along with all those other negative emotions — to run rampant.

Add FB and its spawn to what those television channels grind on and on about and we sure are in a mess.

The so-called “news” is calculated by the power brokers to keep the viewers in a heightened state of negativity.

It is interesting — though actually terrifying — to read about something known as the amygdala hijack. That’s when the emotional part of the brain takes over the thinking part of the brain.

The amygdala is the emotional response territory of the brain and when it is constantly under siege it can take over normal thinking and cause behaviors that can wreck all kinds of important, in-person relationships.

Pogo was right. (sigh)

Totally coincidentally, I was having a conversation yesterday with a friend of mine, who approaches politics from the opposite end of the conservative-liberal spectrum, than I do..He was telling me about a friend who has a family member glued to TV news. All day, every day, always tuned into the same network, never hearing any other message. It has so affected her personality that nobody wants to have anything to do with her, regardless of their political leanings. She has become so unpleasant to be around that nobody will do it.
