Default NO (full size) BOATING CLUB?????

Are there no boating enthusiasts in The Villages? We're about to move in and I'll be bringing my 25' Regal express cruiser to ply the St Johns or Crystal rivers, or both. I have cruised a portion of the St, Johns and can't wait to get back on it. Where are all the boaters? On the golf courses?

There are fishing clubs. I don't have contact info for those however. Maybe someone else does.

The Chain of Lakes Club advertises in the Sun Newspaper about once a week looking for members. I believe the operators live in TV, here's a link to their facebook page. If you're bringing your own boat, then this is not the club you want, they charge membership and provide the boats.

WOW - That's surprising considering it's Florida after all! Guess I'll have to advertise for crew members for river trips. Thank you both for the information.

I believe that there is a sail boating club. They occasionally have events at Lake Sumter. Look on page 55 of this weeks rec newspaper.

We use to boat all the time when we lived on a 3,000 acre lake in Illinois. Sold the boat and the house. Maybe we got burned out on boating or we golf too much now, but I think it was mostly because it's out of the "bubble" we just didn't do it after we retired to The Villages.

Maybe you will have to start a club. I thought there were clubs for everything.

If you call the Village sales office, they will give you the phone numbers or the email for all clubs. They have the information.

You can also call the Village Recreation center and they have similar information.

In the paper, there is a boat club that is like a golf facility, they own the boats, you pay as you go, to troll or, to fish or, to?

Yes, this is a golf community for sure.

There is a boat and fishing club, just call the Village office and they will probably direct you to the right persons.
