Lani sliding doors need maintenance or repair, who to call?
Who to call on Lani Slider Doors maintenance/repairs? They are 9 yrs old, and slide poorly and show a black dust in bottom track, almost looks like they are rubbing on track, there are 4 of them, very heavy. The paperwork shows MFGR Custom Window Systems.

Try spraying Ace brand 100% silicone lubricant on both the top and bottom tracks. It may take some moving of the doors but it will work. I have done this and my Lanai doors open very easily. Avoid lubricants that have hydrocarbon lubricants since that will eventually will become gummy and add to your problems.
BTW, there is an Ace hardware store in Wildwood near the post office. The folks there are very helpful.

Rented in many style houses in our twenty years, and found most lanai doors were poor quality, and as far as security went, useless.
Really can't understand, apart from cost, why such poor doors were installed. Do not know cost for upgrade, but would look at that as an option, and definitely look to making them more secure. Any reasonable thief, could pop those doors in seconds. JMO. |

Last month had Steven Van Es replace all the rollers on the glass doors. He has several older recommendations on this site and he did an excellent job.
