My camera is a simple "point and click" cannon Sure Shot with a manual tiny button to "zoom" 4 x 15. Mostly its a case of patience, and I sneak up on the subject

All the butterflies came to our zinnia garden in Nebraska, even though our flowers are about done, too, and brought several hummingbirds with them!

Actually the "butterfly" you see in your photo is a moth. It is the White-Lined Sphinx moth. Many people think they are hummingbirds as they fly so fast.

hmmm. don't I see clubs on that critter's antennae? I thought it might be the ubiquitous gulf frittilary.

wait! I get it. you meant the more recent post, not the original one...

Well I’ll be a monkey’s uncle. You are so right, butterfly sue, it is indeed a White-Lined Sphinx, sometimes even referred to as a Hummingbird Moth. Perhaps bluejaypop and I not only need hearing aids but new glasses, too! Thanks though!

I think they have come to my yard to dance and flit about and torture my dogs. Tahlula wants to fly with them. Honest.

Asianthree, I think the Moderator might consider up close and personal pix of "lovebugs" to be unsuitable for viewing LOL
