I have just bought a lot in Fernandina and have a meeting with the design team in September. My agent suggested I will perhaps need 3 days or so to finalize all the choices available. For those of you who have built or have met with the team, does this time frame seem appropriate? I was thinking of my flight reservations and want to make certain I leave enough time.

If you have the time there are lots of homes to rent for a week or two take a short vaca and you can enjoy the lifestyle while making important choices

I begin by saying, Congratulations on your decision!

Regarding the issue you raise: I've read on this forum that some folks needed only a few hours to finalize the selections for their dream home, while others needed much more time.
Your "self-imposed" three day timeline will force you to focus on completing your task,
and that is a good thing. Too much time can lead to overanalyzing every little option.

And there is the incentive that if you finish up in less than three days, the time saved gives you some extra unexpected playtime!

If you are very detail oriented and don't have a firm plan for want you want to buy I can see it taking as long as three days. But this is on the long side. It took us about three hours after we got to the design center. About 30 minutes of that was printing the contract and another 30 was reading/signing.

In our case we found the design of one of the models in the model center to be very close to what we wanted. So we pretty much said "do this" and we just tweaked it a little. The most time consuming part for us was picking out the granite slabs. It took three trips to the granite yard over about five days to find ones we wanted. We had waited for another shipment to the yard in Wildwood.

We are thrilled with the result. Wherever we talk about wishing we had done something different, we look at the negatives and resort back to our original decisions.

Our sales person was very good about disclosing the options. She had worked for years in the design center and we requested she be the one to walk us through that part of the process. She listened to our wants and needs and helped us get what we wanted. We are 100% satisfied. The process was seamless.

Thanks everyone! While I don't see it taking only 3 hours, neither do I see it taking longer than 3 days! And you are right. If I set a time limit, I'll stick to it and "git it done". Maybe with a bit of free time to enjoy the entertainment and find a pool!
