Default Warning

I was traveling south over the narrow golf cart bridge over Sumter lake around 4:15 with my lights on when idiot traveling north on the bridge decided to pass the cart in front of him or her. The speed limit is 10mph and it is a no passing zone. Thankfully the cart this person was passing braked hard, so did I with both of us blowing our horns and screaming loudly. It was a very close call. Why are retired people in such a hurry?

Personally, I don't think being retired has anything to do with the urge to get somewhere quickly. It is just habit and human nature. For most people, retirement doesn't cure either of these things.

Some people should not be allowed to drive anything other than a scooter and perhaps not even that. Thanks for the warning about idiot drivers

Think about this.
People who depended on public transportation all their lives in big city's that never own a car, had a drivers license
buys a house in the tv with a (you guess it) a golf cart or two.

Now we got a problem,

True. Unfortunately the inevitable declines in physical and mental abilities that go along with aging only exacerbates the danger. Folks moving here who for years pushed the envelope when driving in, say, Boston, Minneapolis, or any of probably hundreds of other areas and who got by doing so because of A) their abilities, and B) because just about everyone else "back home" drove the same way, all of a sudden find themselves in the middle of a vast community where their own diminishing abilities coupled with being in the middle of a bunch of geezers more or less in the same boat, doing dumb things--and the danger multiplies, not just to them but to everyone else around them.

There are many folks who know this and who adjust accordingly. Unfortunately there are a significant number of others who for whatever reason deny the obvious and continue with their risky behavior, endangering not only themselves but all of the rest of us as well.

That bridge is scary enough without idiot's passing on those small lanes.

They had to pee. Seriously that is just stupid to pass on that bridge.
