Default Record on TOTV

We normally have anywhere from 175 to 275 people on line at any given time. Today we hit a record high of over 560. That high number is hanging around for hours. Most are guests.

It's great, but we don't know why it's happening. Was TOTV mention anywhere in a high profile medium? Does anybody know?

TH.

A few days ago I opened the link to the new website for Pennecamp that was linked in a thread here on TOTV. On that site, under the links section, TOTV is listed. I think there is a lot of interest in The Village of Pennecamp right now so maybe the increase in the number of people online is coming from that direction. I remember at the time thinking that it was nice of the Pennecamp website designer to include TOTV in the links there. I thought maybe it would increase traffic here.

Justa hunch, TH. Justa hunch.

Can you tell if the visitors are from one central area or geographical location? Or are they from everywhere. I mean is there a trend?

We were visiting last week and had lunch/dinner with friends who are TV residents and none of them professed to knowing about TOTV. They were amazed at how much we already knew not only about TV but recent events, and we told them that much of that knowledge comes from the postings here. Maybe they checked it out and told other friends who told other friends, etc etc etc. OK, we really don't think we are the cause of the increase, but word does get around about a good thing.............

Hey Guests, are you still here? Come on in. Don't be shy. We have a great time here on TOTV and the hosts keep the discussions civil, which isn't hard because we're all so friendly. Plus we're sort of giddy from living in TV or wanting to live in TV or just visiting TV.

So come join us on TOTV, will ya?

You're welcome, JLK. I'll PM you where to send the check.

I do not know when this came out but I would guess that it is probably a big part of drawing people interesting in the Villages to Talk of the Villages.

http://www.topretirements.com/tips/B..._Opinions.html

This is from the above web-site article--

"Another essential resource for anyone considering moving to The Villages is Talk of the Villages . On this discussion forum you'll get to eavesdrop on the concerns, joys, challenges, and gossip of every day life here. Spend an hour there online, it is fascinating."

The site article also discusses Andrew Blechman's Leisureville for quite a bit of sentences.

This article was one of the first things that came up when I did a search on Lycos using the words "The Villages", "Florida", and "retirement".

Maybe, it is just the hit on the search engine as it looks like this article dates from about a year ago around May 2009.
