Default Where Is The Dump For Yard Waste?

My wife and I like doing a lot of our own gardening. We are in the process of cleaning out some of our beds (removing wood chip mulch and lava rocks). We are bagging up the material, but I think it is too heavy for the weekly scheduled yard waste pick-up. Is there a county dump in the area for disposing of yard waste?

Lady Lake has a Recycling Center. Take 466 towards 441, at Rolling Acres turn right, past driving range on left hand side. A short while past the driving range you will see a small green sign on the right hand side of the road which I believe says Recycling Center, or it may be a different word meaning the same. The entrance is on the left, open Tuesdays and Saturdays. Excellent dumping area, very organized and very clean.

I have never had a yard waste bag that was not picked up. Including bags of sod.

You probably know that it has to be put in big brown paper bags for that purpose that you can buy at Walmart. They won't take it in any other bags.

Thanks. I'll check that place out tomorrow. I already have it in ten of those brown yard waste bags and I tried not to fill them up too much but they still seem somewhat heavy to me, so I don't want to leave them out front for Wednesday pickup.

Contact our trash removal company. They will give you instructions on free dumping.

Ajaydam, thanks for the advice. Went to the dump off Rolling Acres this morning. You were right, very clean, very organized, and the staff was very friendly. No charge to dump my garden materials. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Default Lady Lake Dump

Thanks for the "thank you"! We first retired to northern NH and had to use the dump, no pick up service. It was frighteningly disgusting, filthy, rotten place. Open pits full of cans and bottles and flies and rats everywhere; when I first saw the Lady Lake Recycling Station I could not believe how clean and neat and organized everything was, on top of which one or sometimes both of the attendants will come over and see if I need help unloading the car! You can also help yourself to mulch from their huge pile on the grounds. Great place.

So you don't have to be a resident of Lake County to use their recycling services?

Default Lady Lake Dump

I was there once when there was an inspector from Lady Lake and he asked where I lived, I told him The Villages and he walked away. I do use the Village recycling, but I take batteries, light bulbs, old computers and small appliances to the dump. I actually take my newspapers to the Dumpster at the Sheriffs Department on 466 because they sell the newspapers and donate the proceeds. I don't make a habit of visiting all these sites, I do it when I am on the way to Home Depot or Sams.
