Default Totally inappropriate.....

Taken aback by the fellow at Canal St Rec. Center last night - Sunday April 1st - who was wearing a totally inappropriate t-shirt with the message:

"Jesus hates the Yankees"

As a Yankee fan it only bothers me but as a Christian during Holy Week I am outraged. Jesus has many better things on his plate to deal with!!!!

If it was you; "Don't you have mirrors in your house?"

And if you would ask any of my Red Sox fan friends, I don't mind the normal good natured give and take... Its part of being a fan.

But this was a step too far.

Reactions?

I visit New England most every summer (Bar Harbor) and I get a chuckle out of the rivalry between the Yankee's and the Red Sox's. Being Red Sox teriortory up there I see bumber stickers such as, "There's no crying in Baseball....unless you're a Yankees fan". Or "Yankee Fans Welcome to Bar Harbor...now go home"...
But I agree with you, this is way over the top for a couple of reasons, first of which is that the word "hate" is such a strong and sensitive word and I'm pretty sure Jesus wouldn't be using it in that context and secondly, Jesus doesn't hate anything!

Hang in there buddy and by the way....Go Rangers! Texas Rangers that is..

A good example of someone taking Jesus too casually and the Yankees too seriously.

Since it's Holy week, consider it a 'test' from above..... can you honor the Christ spark (my own term) in him even if nothing else? Give yourself the gift of serenity and let go of your upset. He's not in the same place on the path as you are, that's all....

Think of it as an April Fool's Joke on the guy with this t-shirt especially if the Yankees take the pennant this year.

Default Tee Shirts

I try to avoid all tee shirts with words on them. (as you can tell by my avatar)

Too many are indicative of the IQ of the person wearing them.

Jesus loves him despite his sins, and is waiting with open arms for this man to come to Him humbly and repenting and asking for forgiveness.

We're all guilty of putting worldly pleasures and habits in first place before God. Pray, pray, pray for focus on the Risen Christ, not our lifestyles.

Default Using the name Jesus in jesting

I was raised a Protestant, but worked at and attended Seattle University which is a strongly Jesuit school.

A priest that taught my philosophy of religion class made a great statement which has stuck with me ever since:
"If you can't laugh at something, you're taking it too seriously - even religion."

I think he knew what he was talking about. He was one of the most well-liked professors on campus.

I try to live by his statement and not take everything too seriously in every case.

I wish everyone felt that way.

I don't know...I'd probably get a tee shirt that said "Oh really? ask his father!"

Well.....Well.....Jesus does hate the Yankees because they are all rich. Jesus wrote it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus probably hates the Yankees now, because they traded him to Seattle for Pineda.

I hope that Jesus is way to busy to worry bout the yankees,,, if he is worried about baseball,, what is his plan for the Cubs,, WHY?? some of God greatest gifts are unanswered prayers... or at least the is what Garth Brooks says!
