There is a lot of misdirected hate on Facebook and on here against the plaintiffs in this Federal case. What we need is constructive dialog about how the needs of all these parties can be met while saving the Lifelong Learning College or putting in something that will replace it and accommodate those people in a reasonable manner who are deaf and need some kind of help. Reasonable accommodation which actually looks like what the ADA law writers intended. Last edited by Taltarzac725; 12-06-2016 at 09:49 AM. |

As a visitor to TV while looking to purchase a home here, this is sad news. One of the many things that attracted me to live here was the Learning Center. I was planning on taking classes there.
Perhaps someone will step in to run it. We are a litigious society, unfortunately, and lawsuits keep litigation lawyers happy. |

"Whew, ya'll are a tough crowd! "
When something is taken/stopped/removed without full disclosure, you are darn tootin we are a "tough crowd ". Use of the Rec Center classes and ALC are part and parcel of The Villages Lifestyle", which, courtesy of a SINGLE litigious individual ceased with seemingly no happy solution. The Rec Center programs (amenities) and the ALC are a benefit of living in TV as opposed to other nearby less expensive retirement centers. Perhaps this is the real intent of Mr. S who appears to want, like the Grinch, to make everyone as unhappy as he is. I would think this is an issue national publications might be interested now that the election is over and Trump bashing no longer consumes all their time . We are instructed to "Reap as you sow". His day of reckoning will one day be upon him. Last edited by Boudicca; 12-06-2016 at 11:37 AM. |

I wonder how long an interpreter would last if nobody could understand them? Do you think the deaf person would let someone know that the interpreter is not doing a good job (same as a non deaf person would let someone know the instructor that speaks Spanglish or Creole is not doing a good job of communicating the subject matter!) I mean really is someone able to justify this jackass's litigation?? |

What about contacting AARP. THEY HAVE AN ADVICACY department. They just fought the light company. We would have more than 8000 signatures. See attached letter.
Is this a possibility? |

Tens of thousands of Villagers donate to and volunteer for many worthwhile causes in and around our community. Seems to me, the plaintiffs (or most of them) should be qualified to volunteer their time and interpret class content to other Villagers who are hearing impaired. That course of action would have had an extremely positive impact for the entire community, unlike what we have now.

Let's hope someone in the Morse family read this trend
"I've been planning on moving to the Villages for almost a year now. Next month I'm scheduled for 6 days for another lifestyle visit. This third visit was to narrow down areas to live. With the LLC gone TV is just another very large retirement community. I'll probably spend 4 of the 7 days looking outside TV. Sad for me but probably sadder for all those already invested in TV" |
