I call them the me, mee's. I am a terrible singer but I has a very impolite song about them.

Child psychology. Before about the age of two a human child is psychologically unaware that the world does not revolve around them. SOME NEVER EVOLVE TO THAT STEP AND IT IS UNLIKELY THEY WILL.

Sorry for the near miss. I might offer some advice considering I see this every day here in the villages. Drivers who are making right turns slow down almost to a stop and stay in the middle of the vehicular lane. They force everyone behind them to come to a stop as well. Only the do they make the right turn. It’s as if they are so stupid they think they have to come to a complete stop or their vehicle will tip over during the turn.

It makes a lot more sense, and is much safer to move over towards the shoulder and get your vehicle out of the thru lane early and make a smooth turn off.

That's what the woman who rear-ended my wife screamed: "IT YOU FAULT!" $)^&!! WHY YOU BE STOPPED?

Wife was stopped at a red light behind two other cars.

I am afraid you are missing the point. Tinker and I both believe in the adage "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". What he does, and I share with him, before he turns to make a right turn, he will turn on his directional signal and segue partially into golf cart lane. By doing this we make darn certain that no one is caught off guard in their golf cart and has an accident. Got that my friend?

Cars are supposed to merge into golf cart path to turn right. This prevents hitting one who tries to pass on the right while you are turning right. You make right hand turns FROM the right lane, not ACROSS.

Because Golf Carts, bikes, walkers, every contraption on wheels, etc. come out of no where in the Golf Cart Lane. Get your rear bumper to them right away then make right turn.
I do the same thing.

No doubt motorcycles are fun to ride, but not worth it in my book. Best of luck to you and happy you are still with us.
I've ridden for most of my adult life. Never an accident and very few close calls. After our move here I had my bike shipped from Minnesota, rode for maybe a month and sold it--had more close calls here in that time than in five years up in Minnesota.

National average, as I recall, is that you are something like 24 times as likely to die in a motorcycle accident than in a car accident. Bad enough, but a fender-bender in a car resulting in a trip to the body shop can result in a month in the hospital if you were on a bike rather than in a car. If you're lucky.

In my experience riding (and watching, when I wasn't on the bike) my thought is that the risk to bikers here in The Villages is significantly higher than the national averages, both for fatalities and bad accidents.

Agreed.

If you are walking (hopefully facing the oncoming traffic) on an MMP, and if it is safe to do so, step off the path into the grass when a golf cart of bicycle is coming toward you. People appreciate it.

Tunnels!
The post was reffering to Tunnels
Tubes under roads for pedestrians cyclists and golf carts!
TUNNELS!
Paths are in the open air except when undeground in Tunnels!

You take your life in your hands these days driving in the Villages, whether it is a CAR or CART CYCLE or MOTOR CYCLE. It was not a Villager says one reply.. Sorry that is not true.

Many folk want the gate barriers to be removed.. because they are too lazy to get their card out and swipe it.... NO WAY shoudl this ever happen. With repairs at many gates at the moment a simple stop sign MEANS NOTHING to drivers of cars or carts..... 3 near misses at Lake Miona in one day... how many gates are there !!!!!! and how many accidents would that make...... dreadful driving here....

(another serious question)
Q1. They are indeed, and by covering the lane, I keep other vehicles out of my nearside door as well.
Only move over in last 50 yards when turning right. Rest of journey would not enter cart lanes.

Default Now I understand…

After reading some of these posts it is clear why I pay exactly the same to insure one car in The Villages as I do to insure three cars in NH.

The absolute lack of common sense and courtesy behind the wheel I used to see only in Miami Dade years ago has definitely migrated north!

You’re absolutely right, it’s unbelievable that many of the people who have posted here make up their rules how to drive in The Villages so THEY feel safe. Should call this The “Make Your Own Driving Rules” Villages.

Default Don't turn right from the left hand lane

this situation is easily remedied, don't turn right from the left hand lane, move into the right lane put on your turn signal and you'll never have this problem

If there is a golf cart lane to the right of your driving lane, you have no business pulling into the golf cart lane to turn right! You should slowdown and carefully check that lane before turning.
