Incorrect. I recently had a meeting with a manager from Batterbee Roofing on this very topic. This was a concern of the home struck and severly damaged last year in Osecola Hills. The correct answer is if the system is installed properly, meaning using the right roof connectors then your warranty is not effected. The only thing you need to know is if a leak does occur and it was from the LPS, then then the LPS installer not the roofer is responsible for the repair. Any damage to your home is covered by insurance. In speaking with A1 and Triangle lightning protection, so far there have not been any issues with leaks from the systems. The reason is they both use certified roofing connectors that are approved by the roofing industry for these types of installations.

The warranty for a roof typically covers failures in the materials and or installation.

We are planning to have our roof replaced and I asked this very question. All the roofers we received quotes from said installing a lightning protection sytem is fine and doesn't void the warranty as long as the installer uses approved connectors.

We were told not to alter our roof until the warranty expired. If you put holes in your roof, that section of the roof is not covered per the Villages Home Warranty Department.

I have no idea what insurance companies say? This is a new construction home.

Yes, we were told that by our builder during the briefing when they came to the house after closing. It doesn’t matter though, we aren’t considering anything like that for quite a while. There are too many other things going on.
