Default CDC is No Help

Scheduled to go into Canada in about a weeks time. The Canadian Gov. has done a pretty good job of explaining what's needed to get in. They even have an APP which makes things at the border go smoothly. Try to find info on what it takes to get back home --- non-existent. Can anyone provide a reference or have you experienced?? Thanks

Google US Department of State. It’s all there. Safe trip!

HERE it is on the CDC's website. If you are flying commercial you need a negative test within 3 days of getting on your flight. If you are driving, no test is required.

If you are flying a private aircraft there are different requirements, all explained on the CDC's website

On the Dept of State's website HERE you can read all the rules for crossing the border on land. Only essential travel is allowed, but returning to the US by US citizen is considered essential.

State Department is where you find everything about requirements for international travel.

Should have mentioned that we're traveling by car. Air travel is explained pretty clearly by the State Dept. Land crossings not so much.

Just checked their website and it seems Canada allows fully vaccinated Americans or Canadian citizens more than 2 weeks after 2nd dose, with a CPR negative test no more than 72 hours before crossing and no sign of illness from Covid.

If you have a negative "CPR" you'll never be traveling anywhere ever! (typos are such fun).

You need a molecular test to get I not Canada but only an antigen test to get into the USA.

Default I couldn’t get in

On 8/15 I tried to get in and the border was closed. I had my vaccination I had a test within 72 hours and attempted to complete the online questionnaire. I was going to visit for the day but the questionnaire asked where I would quarantine 14 days if there. It only gives a Canadian address so I could not answer it. When I got to the border (I wanted to walk over the rainbow bridge ) it said no nonessential travel will be admitted. There was no one there to even ask. The previous day they said they were opening the border to visitors. The online site Did not say they were closed. Good luck

Default I just crossed Saturday .

If you are driving and a US citizen you just need your passport. No test required.
If you are flying you need to check with the airline as to their requirements. My wife is flying today and she needed a Covid19 test within 72 hours of departure.

I am in Buffalo now and will NOT be going to Canada as planned. It seems everyone and their brother wants to do the same thing and there is no availability of tests locally. I tried Walgreens, CVS and Rite Aid. I would make sure you have a clear plan as to where you will get the test along the way. You will also need proof of vaccination and your passport. Good luck!

Asked and answered. Then of course we had to go and remove 14 political posts.
