Default Can you believe $5.00 per gallon of gas?

Yesterday, Amity and I went to the Orlando airport to pick up our nephew. Before we went to the airport, we stopped at a SunCoast Gas station on Semoran Drive. I was leaning against the car and pumping low grade regular when I noticed that the pump was reading $65 and I had put in only a half a tank. WHOA! I looked at the little price wheel on the pump and it said $5.49. I ran inside and said, "there is something wrong with the price......" NOPE, she said, that's our price.

This is a big station with about 20 pumps. There were 5 other people lined up behind me screaming at this poor girl. She said "that's the price and that's that." She said, "I hear this all day long."

I was furious. I called WESH TV NEws in Orlando and they said, "Ya, we have done stories about that station and even called the state attorney general and there is nothing anybody can do."

Be aware, "THE SUNCOAST GAS STATION ON SEMORAN DRIVE IS CHARGING NEARLY THREE TIMES THE NORMAL PRICE FOR GAS." There is no price sign in front of the station, so it is a clear attempt to trick people into being gouged.

I feel robbed.

Thumbs down Interesting

Location, Location, Location...I bet if it wasn't near the airport and those rental cars, it would sell no gas at those prices.

Default Well Over A Year

Jan, last year when I was in Florida in December I saw a story on tv about this station and they interviewed the owner. He said if you don't like the price don't stop here. He is praying on the car rental traveler that has to fill up the rental before turning it in. I have not rented a car in a long time so I have no idea as to what the cost per gallon is if you have the rental company fill it up for you. I would bet is will be a lot higher than the "normal" stations.

Here in the Akron Ohio area you can find gas around $1.75 a gallon today.

Back in October I did a 30 gallon fill-up in my F-150 for a total cost of $5.67. That is correct I paid $.189 cents a gallon. This past Sunday I did another 30 gallon one for $14.97

In this area there is a grocery chain called Giant Eagle. There you can get $.20 off every gallon of gas for every $50.00 you spend in the store. This includes a good selection of gift cards. I started stocking up on restraint gift cards for the month of December to use while at TV. You can stock up on Micky D's, Starbuck's, Bob Evans, TGI Fridays, Olive Garden and a host of other national chains. The only thing is that I want to try a lot of the local establishments in TV but fall back on the others as needed. If I don't use all the cards at TV I can use them here at home.

You can also put your purchased on a credit card and get more of a discount. The way I have it worked out for every $100.00 I spend at that Giant Eagle I save $14.00. Now you have to watch in that Giant Eagle is not the lowest place to buy groceries. I use another store called Marc's for things but other than the gift cards, meats and a few things I cannot at Marc's. Giant Eagle will also double any coupons up to $2.00 everyday.

In these trying times you have to know how to play the game.

19 Days and counting for a month in TV and I cannot wait.

When I have rented a car at MCO, I have been told by the agents not to go there!

Good warning. But you don't need to fill up RIGHT next to MCO to have the car rental place approve of the fill up. I usually get gas about 2 exits from the airport coming down the beeline (I wish I remembered the exit number) for a 'going' price. The rental attendants barely even check the gauge.

Default Gas and Rental Cars

The last two times that we have rented cars ( both in Fl), we took the option of paying for the tank of gas when we rented the car. The people told us to bring it back as empty as we could. The price of the gasoline was reasonable, too.

We never prepay for gas when renting cars because the rental agency's price for gas is usually higher than we can find at a gas station.

$5.49 is outrageous since I paid only $1.95 a gallon here in Michigan yesterday. Jan, didn't you look at the posted price before you pumped? I always do!

Default Horrible!!!

I am sorry that happened to you...I noticed higher prices in Orlando as well today.

I did find that most of the prices in and around TV's are $1.99 or less.....which is wonderful....(TH...gas up BEFORE leaving town!!)

I paid $1.94 at the new Racetrack on 441......WOW....and they were giving away prizes today....even better!

I also noticed that the Kangaroo near the new Publix was priced at $1.95 at 12N.....and at 12:45 pm it was 1.99.....ODD
