I cannot believe some Villagers! Yesterday, I had to swerve three times to avoid people backing out of parking spaces. Hey, a golf cart ain't that small! And mine's BRIGHT yellow. Pretty hard to miss if you bother looking.
This morning, I was walking a dog and this woman came barrelling out of her garage and hit me. Fortunately, no major injuries but a lot of bruises and a lot of sore muscles. Somehow it became my fault!!!! Not because I walked in front of her driveway but because Schatzie gets walked at 6:30 am, not 7:00 am, so she doesn't need to look behind her. Excuse me????? Gotta love that logic. So, look behind you before you take off whether in a parking space or in your driveway. The life you save might be mine.

OMG....I'm so sorry you were hurt. Actually, that's better than what could have happened, but I have no doubt you are very uncomfortable.
This could be a habit with that particular person....just taking it for granted that no one is behind the car. Is this something that needs to be reported to law enforcement, insurance company? Get well quickly! |

I didn't get that memo either about the 7 a.m. start for the look-behind-you-before-backing-up rule. Seriously, thank goodness you or the dog were not more seriously injured.

When she wasn't abashed and ashamed, I would have called a cop. It is vehicular assult. Anyone can screw up, but to blame the person you hit.
You hit someone in a sidewalk or a pedestrian in general it is a huge hit to your insurance and your licence. In the pouring rain at 7 pm on a dark night, I had a person all dressed in black with a black hoody jump, infront of my car and fall down. I did not hit him but could not prove it. The fine was $175, even though the lawsuit was dropped, but my insurance went up, and the lawyer cost me a fortune. ( A note first thing he asked was you live here on Mercer Island right. Its a community of mostly expensive, view waterfront homes, even though mine isn't.) You could still sue. There must me a retired lawyer around there somewhere who has a little time and would like to get justice. |

Dee so sorry to hear about you getting hit by not only a bad driver but an inconsiderate one as well! I would feel awful if I hit a person or animal. It is amazing how some people are able to rationalize their behavior and nothing is ever their fault.
Hope you feel better soon.

I am so sorry Redwitch but so thankful that you and your sweet Schatzie weren't seriously hurt. Might be a good idea to go get yourself checked out anyway--just to be on the safe side.

Red. I am very sorry to hear this. It is awful to hear that she ran into you and felt not at fault. I couldn't sleep if I had done that.

Gracie thats because you have a good heart.
When the guy fell infront of my car I was beside myself. (didn't know till later it was a scam) Made him sit in my car out of the rain till the cops came. Was in such a state I had trouble driving the rest of the way home. Walked the 2 miles to the bus stop, instead of driving to the park and ride, for a week. And here is a person who plows out of her driveway and has the nerve to blame the person she hit. |

Hi Dee,
It never ceases to amaze me how arrogant some people can be! What if you were out walking with a small child on a tricycle? This lady truly needs a warning from the police, and I believe you should act on this as soon as possible!

I didn't have to call the police -- she did. roflao Her bumper had a small dent in it (something tells me it had been there awhile).
Honestly, I wouldn't have called the police unless I found I was hurt more than I am. She was pretty upset at first and, once she calmed down, I think she starting thinking of the repercussions (lawsuit, insurance, etc.) and decided the best defense was an offense. You should have the sheriff chewing her out. It would have been much funnier if I wasn't hurting and shaking so much. I was lucky that it was only a glancing blow. A direct hit would have definitely caused major damage. And Schatzie was just fine -- he wanted to finish his walk and was not happy that didn't happen. The Sheriff took him for a mini-walk to do his business. Thanks for all of your concerns. Really didn't write it for that, just as a reminder to look behind you when backing up. As I said, the day before I was playing dodge 'em in parking lots cause people were just backing up and not stopping.

Naw, actually nosy. Did she have the audacity to explain to the sheriff's deputy, as well, that it was your fault because you were walking the dog at the wrong time??? Guess you're gonna "fix" her bumper, right?
![]() Definitely unbelievable...one for the books. Glad you weren't seriously hurt or worse. P.S. You gonna change your walk time? ![]()
