Default Kirin Beer Snake

I went to Publix today for a few essentials.

Publix was offering a two-for-one on six packs of Kirin beer. I stopped at the beer cooler and there was only one six pack remaining. I asked a clerk if they had more. While she was checking, I struck up a conversation with another guy who also was looking for the Kirin. The clerk came back and said their liquor store next door had two six packs left and she was having the clerk hold them for me.

I then remembered I needed the Klondike bars which were also two-for-one (these are considered essentials).

I paid for my groceries, went next door to the liquor store, and told the clerk I was there for the two six packs of Kirin she was holding for me. Her mouth dropped open and she told me a man had come in just a few minutes earlier and said HE was the customer the beer was being held for!

I could not believe he was standing right next to me and rushed next door before me. He "snaked" right in front of me. I got a great laugh out of this - as well as a rain check.

If the beer snake is reading this post by any remote chance - Cheers, my friend!

I had someone do a similar thing to once. I don't know how people that do things like that can live with themselves. Klondike bars and beer don't go well together so by the time you finish the Klondike bars the beer will be in.

It's been brewed by Anheuser Busch since 1996. Not the same as the one you would get in Japan. In fact Busch lost a lawsuit this year because surprise surprise their web site was trying to make you think it was brewed in Japan. Reminds me back in the 70's when Lowenbrau started being brewed by Miller however you needed a microscope to read that fact on their label.

Years ago when stationed in Japan Kirin was the beer to drink. Sapporo, not so much.

Yeah, the guy who snaked the beer told me it was not brewed in Japan anymore. We looked at the label and in small print, it said it was brewed by Anheuser Busch in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Even though I have the rain check, I may not even use it!

I often wonder about who is the marketing genius that decides what products are on sale?

"Japanese" beer on sale for Memorial Day weekend.
