Default Looking for NRA Certified Instructors

A new gun club is being started and we are looking for certified Instructors. What to start teaching again, want to help other become safe firearms owners. Then drop me a PM and let me know what your specialty is, either civilian or LEO and attend our first meeting at Fish Hawk Rec Center, November 12, 6 PM. We would be glad to have you join us to make our community safer.

Our Mission Statement is:

To promote instruction and the lawful safe handling of firearms in recreational and self defense situations by those lawfully allowed to own firearms.

We are a non-political gun club.

Just like the NRA, I assume?

Yep, more guns in TV will definitely make it a better place to live. Sure thing.

That is one of the problems. There are lots of guns in TV and most have no idea of the safety required in being a responsible owner. No the NRA is very political. This club is not getting into the political right to own or control guns. The club is interested in getting all gun owners to be safe and responsible in handling of firearms.

I'm curious, just how do you know "there are lots of guns in TV"? And how many is "lots"?

And if there are lots as you claim, how do you know that most owners are so lacking in proper training?

Since I do a lot of firearm training and know many of the owners of Gun Stores in the local area, run a monthly match, talk to lots of Villagers, they are buying guns at a rapid rate and lots of them are not showing up at the ranges for any training. Most get their Concealed Carry Permit at gun shows that require no training what so ever. Been asked a few times, by new gun owners to show they how it works, etc. That is how I know.

I don't recall anyone saying more guns would make TV a better place to live.

Even though you may object, there is nothing wrong with gun ownership! I have been target shooting for years. NEVER used my guns for any other purpose (luckily). Would I use one in self defense - absolutely if I had to, but hope to never be in that situation.

Perhaps you would feel more comfortable living somewhere else?

Wow AJ, I guess you should be on the Welcome Wagon committee!

Seriously, over the years thanks to job transfers & the nature of my work I've lived in St.Louis, Baton Rouge, LA, Jackson, MS, Houston, Atlanta, and presently Birmingham, AL.. I can honestly say I've NEVER felt the need to own a gun for personal protection anywhere I've lived. I do my best to stay out of bad neighborhoods, I'm pretty selective as to the type of people I choose to associate with and do business with, and I always stay keenly aware of my surroundings no matter where I am.

I sure hope I don't feel any different once we move to TV. I'm looking forward to getting involved in loads of sports & activities, but really doubt I'll be joining the gun club. Sorry. (I could add much more, but it would most likely be deemed "political" and not allowed.)

The topic was looking for qualified Firearms instructors.... Please, don't turn this into a gun control discussion.

Serenoa....If you have nothing to contribute to this post why are you here? We've all hear all you have to say and your side never makes any sense. This post was to help gun owners be safer and more proficient. If you chose not to protect yourself and family and believe it can't happen to you that's your choice. The poster wasn't making a statement of whether guns are for the good or not, he was just trying to help others. If you don't own a gun, then it wasn't for you.

It's irresponsible owners of anything cars, guns, dogs, golf carts that make something dangerous. More responsible owners of any of the above will make TV a better place to live. Gun ownership is gauranteed for those that wish to own by the US constitution
