Hi! I'm new to the forum.
I am trying to get my parents to move to The Villages from Chile but the one hurdle I need to overcome is that neither speaks English. My dad speaks Italian and Spanish, my mom just Spanish. Are there any Spanish speaking groups I could learn more about? I just want to make sure that they'll be able to communicate with at least some of the residents. Thanks in advance! |

I only know the bad words and a little Spanglish. Enough to get a cup of coffee. That's all.

I do eavesdrop of the many Spanish speaking workers in the Villages and can often understand much of what they are probably saying as I have a context to work with there. I think anyone that is moving to the Villages should start acquiring some English skills and they are many online resources for Spanish speakers to learn some English. I am a member of the SpanishAmerican club. It is mostly a social club. Many members of this club are spouses / partners who do not speak Spanish.... |
