This year will be the 6th year the Loonies and Toonies Club will be operational with meetings scheduled the second Wednesday of every month in the Carmen Miranda Room at La Hacienda Recreation Centre. The doors and registration desk open at 5:30 p.m. November through April.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone again at our first meeting of the 2015-2016 season on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. We encourage you to arrive early (5:30 p.m.) as this is our busiest meeting for registration for the New Year. Once again our annual dues we will be $5.00 per person, which allows us to hold these meetings in the first class manner that has become our hallmark. Please wear your poppies to show your Canadian pride as the November meeting falls on Remembrance Day this year. We are hoping to do something special to commemorate this very important day in the life of all Canadians, Americans and Europeans. We have on tap that evening two guests speaking to us about Crime prevention which has become very topical of late due to a rash of burglaries and scams that have victimized some Villagers. Mr. Joseph Pine from Metro Crime Prevention of Florida based in Bellevue. He will discuss how we, as seniors, can do our bit to crime proof ourselves and recognize the dangers of scam artists, petty thieves and the like. We will also have on hand Mr. William Elliott , Division Chief of the Community Watch. Bill will be sharing with us the work that this group does on our behalf in The Villages. Just Mike [Mike Palma] will be joining us once again to provide us with musical entertainment and do his best to get you up dancing once our speakers have had their say. We will also continue our support of the Wildwood Food Bank and ask you to bring non perishable - non expired food items to help out the folks who depend on this lifeline. We will also collect any used clothing or household goods you might want to dispose of for the Good Shepherd's Lighthouse to help them in their cause of helping young single mothers in our area. A very busy year has been planned for you starting with our Christmas Party in December (entertainment by Lisa Beck). Our January meeting will have a speaker from Camp Sozo, in the Ocala Forest. A Valentines Party is planned for February (featuring the music of Lisa Beck); March will have our fun and entertaining night of Bunco; and, last but not least, our annual wrap up meeting in April will feature the Canadian Snowbird Association. We are planning on going to see the Maple Leafs [sorry Ottawa fans but the schedule maker was not friendly to us again this year] on March 28, our 6th annual Golf Tournament on March 14th, and maybe go see the World Series Champions play the Tampa Rays first week of April. We are looking forward to seeing you all soon. Pat and Dave - your executive committee

Bare - were you one of those that followed the gyro copter back here with the loonie toonie geese? ![]()

Unfortunately the US Government will only allow us to stay in the US for 182 days in a calendar year. Otherwise we'd love to stay longer, or even become Frogs. You Americans don't know how lucky you are!

We, Americans, DO, indeed, know how lucky we are - we are fortunate to have the best neighbors sharing our National border than any other nation enjoys. Very nice that you're having your meeting on November 11th in honor of Remembrance Day https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIHie6R2TlY |

"A Pittance of Time" always brings tears to my eyes. It's a beautiful song of Remembrance.

A Reminder that the Loonies and Toonies Meeting is tonight.
![]() Mia, I'm sorry that you won't be able to make the first meeting. Perhaps we'll see you at the December 9 meeting.

I think I forgot to say BYOB. But I guess that's understood for evening meetings with entertainment.
