Default Large Dog Loose in Virginia Trace

A large red dog was following us on our walk tonight around the Virginia Trace pool. Medium/long red coat and we are pretty sure it is a domestic dog because he didn't run from us. I would say between 80 and 100 lbs. I had my dog with me, so we made a dash to the golf cart.

We saw that dog run through our yard in Caroline about 7:00 this evening. That means it got across Morse! Hope someone is able to corral it and find the owner before it gets hurt.

Twice I've seen a red wolf after dark in the lake miona/cane garden area.

Don't forget about the roving packs of cougars frequently seen around Katie Belle's and the herd of pink elephants that march to each of the squares nightly!

My first instinct when I saw it was that it was acting more like a wild creature than domestic so, even if I didn't have my dog with me, I wouldn't have approached it. Even though it looked like a dog and was following us instead of showing fear (gulp) my gut said to stay away.

You may want to rule out a red wolf as there are only 100 in the wild. Coyotes can have a reddish brown look to them. They are not interested in you, but your dog is dinner.

There was a litter of red fox born on Jacaranda golf course last year. Possibly one of them?

Creature didn't have a fox profile, nor the bushy tail...it really appeared to be a dog. Saw it moving swiftly through my yard out of the corner of my eye. Got to the fence. Hesitated for a second and then wiggled under the lower rail. The animal was full bodied, did not appear to be underfed, but might have been thirsty. After the fence, had two lanes for golf carts then 4 lanes of traffic on Morse to cross.
