Default Handyman

Retired guy from property management. Buildings and grounds maintenance. I do all kinds of handyman work including pressure wash, irrigation, and much more. I do good work at fair prices. If anyone needs anything I would be interested in talking with you. Thanks

To clarify, Florida doesn't have a specific license catagory for a handyman, but there may be a requirement for a county or city business license. The Workers compensation insurance requirement would only apply if the OP has employees, but, if he works alone as the business owner, he doesn't need Workers comp. Individual liability insurance may or may not be a local county or city requirement, but I don't think he would need liability insurance as a Florida state requirement, since I don't think he needs a state license. My guess is that many handymen who work in The Villages do not have a business liability insurance policy. Also, since a Villages handyman needs to do work in 3 different counties and a few different cities, I can imagine that it would be difficult to comply with every local regulation.

That is your choice. But, I don't think you will find a handyman with a Florida contractor license because it is not required. You may find a handyman with a handyman general liability insurance policy, but I doubt it because he would need to do a lot of work to justify the cost. Also, not required for jobs less than $2,500.

You can search for licensed contractors by license type on this website. Very useful site, especially when you want to verify a license.

If not ACE hardware off 466 does screen repair, just remove the screen and bring in, a friend had all of their window screens repaired by them, sorry I do not recall the cost, and turn around was 2 or 3 days.

I do but to be honest if it is a screen that you can take out easily it would be cheaper for you to just take it to Ace and let them do it.
