Default Fatality on 44 in front of Publix / Brownwood

According to the Publix employees, there was a fatal accident this afternoon. Lots of emergency vehicles still there a few minutes ago. Let's all be extra careful.

The on-line news is reporting that two victims were extricated from the vehicle and transported to hospitals, so no fatalities at this point.

Unfortunately we live in a special spot on the planet where a lot of our neighbors and others on the road are not as mentally or physically quick as they once were. I try to keep that in mind and drive very defensively when I am here. It behooves all of us to look out for others that may not be so great at looking out for themselves.

The accident involved two friends of mine. The husband was killed and the woman is in the trauma center in Ocala and has had many surgeries. They were turning off 44 to go to the trailer dealership behind the former Sonnys and were hit by a speeding van that ran the red light. That driver of the van was not hurt. Please keep my friend in your prayers as she has a long road to recovery.

I am so sorry for your loss. We will keep her - and their family and friends - in our thoughts and prayers.
