What you say is so true.
You can pretty much take most floor plans
and make them into the look you want.

Not that long ago I was in a Lantana model home in Mallory.
The couple had also decorated in the Mission style and it was charming.

I am fascinated with how people make their homes their own. I get a magazine called Florida Style (I think that is the name of it) and it has mostly South Florida homes of grandeur on the water and condos on the water and most of it is very linear and very shiny and very minimal and very white and very full of emphatic color punches and very, VERY expensive furniture and is generally quite different from the style that I think is representative of central and northern Florida. (These are just my impressions, I am not an expert, just a homemaker)

Now I am not saying there are hard set rules, there is just sort of an atmosphere here that has sort of a softness, many use white furniture mixed with dark as Bonanza says, eclectic. I am not a decorator, I have always just been fascinated with interior design and know that even traditional is quite fluid. In our first home here we decorated with a beachy touch and in our second home we brought our old stuff. Both felt right.

PLEASE show us pictures of your home. I wish we had a decorator forum. I made most of my drapes using very inexpensive fabric from fabric.com. Most fabric I paid about seven dollars a yard . I love to see what choices people have made to make our very similar homes look like their own. I wish MaryBB would post hers. It is my favorite interior here in TV. 2BNTV has a smart, stylish and beautifully decorated home and his choices are terrific too.I have enjoyed seeing the interiors of many warm and beautiful homes. Please share.

GRACIE, it would be nice if they would have house tours as a fund raiser for charity. I am sure lots of ladies would get involved. What do you think?

The spot shot can is a great decorative piece.
We use Lemon Pledge instead and get rave reviews from friends.

They are now building a new courtyard villa neighborhood near Brownwood. Each villa has a very unique exterior. Quite different from previous villas. I think they will have more of a craftsman look. They are bringing called Designer Villas but there are none with pricing on the Villages website yet. I don't remember the name of the villa neighborhood.

We did that last year in Mission Hills to raise money for our AED program. It was very successful but was only open to our neighborhood. It was amazing how different the same floor plan could look and how people had made so many changes to the floor plan after purchase.

If you buy low in a nice village you can well afford to customize on the interior to make your house a home. I'm not sure I'd go over to the 'historic' section to accomplish this due to future resale value.

What does this mean? Are you making a prediction of future resale values?
