Default New home glut?

Just looking at the villages dot com.

Seems there are over 300 new homes discounted. There are often some but I've never seen so many before.

Some of the newer areas in TV are very unappealing from roadside views- Heading east on 466a the new area in Fruitland Park IMHO really looks like military housing--maximum density-I'm talking about the houses directly behind the barrier walls.

Not to mention the shock the new owners will receive after being here a while, when they find out that other than the Colony shopping area...how far away they are from most everything else.

The subject of too many homes comes up on this Forum periodically. Here is a thread from three years ago;

A LOT of new homes.

Some people are just snobs, plain and simple!

There have been "discounts" since I bought my home over four years ago. When did anyone pay the undiscounted price?

I've read a lot of previous threads of some people being unhappy with the growth of TV.

Personally, I would never want to deny anyone living in this paradise.

It's ain't perfect, but pretty darn close!

I agree about it being summer. If you check the house prices on Zillow or other places the prices are down now. This same thing happened last summer. Less buyers this time of the year. Once the snowbirds get back and the renters come in January prices will go back up and there will be less inventory. This info came from a Villages realtor plus I watch house prices in the paper every day.

As someone else mentioned there are always discounts during the summer. I purchased a little over a year ago in the Palo Alto area as I just loved the location. The Villages is gigantic, but is still the best community we could find. I've seen complaints about traffic, resturants and professional services and yes there are some issues, but I still wouldn't trade this for anywhere else!

Discounts on homes like wearing down a car dealer for the best buy is a scripted illusion to make buyers feel better. There is so much water in the home prices here that a buy is never going tap the developer's profit much if at all. The Developer understand the market well and knows how to react . it could be the rental policy the developer allowed in order to give prospective buyers a taste of the village lifestyle may now be back firing on him. Why buy the cow when you can milk for for a one time small rental fee

Far away from everything else...like what? Brownwood and Lake Sumter Landing aren't that far. My wife and I hardly ever visit the town squares. Shopping? I live in Lake Deaton...take a car and go wherever you'd like. Im not sure that they are so "far away" from everything.
