Default New Cottages

I just took an on-line tour, through the V-mail, of the 3 new cottages. I was very impressed with the Hammock. Has anyone been through these? What do you think? There was no floorplan listed yet and the guest bedrooms might be a bit small. Wow for the price... and golf cart garage...something to consider.

I am sure, because it is a cottage, that you might not get to choose some of the more high end finishes (ie granite, wood floors) but it did seem very nice.

My sales rep sent me a copy of the floor plans for all three new units. I have been trying to compare them to other homes and have nothing to compare as yet.

From the plans I can give you some of the measurements that they have listed. I wish I had a scanner and I would scan the plans and post them.

The Hammock
Master bedroom is aprox 16'-11" x 13'-4"
Bedroom 2 is aprox 10'-4" x 12'-2"
Bedroom 3 is aprox 10'-5" x 10'-9"
Living room is aprox 19'-4" x 17'-1"
Dining area is aprox 9'-8" x 9'-6"
Kitchen is aprox 9'-5" x 17'-7"
Lanai is aprox 19'-8" x 12'-0"
Garage is aprox 19'-4" x 19'-10"

On the floor plan that was sent the layout is basically a left half and right half of the home for talking purposes. On the right you have the living room, kitchen / dining and the lanai. On the left you have the garage, three bedrooms, 2 baths laundry room and closets.

Going through the front door you have a foyer with closet and off to the right is the living room. This is a wide open area all the way back to the kitchen and dining area. Master bedroom has a walk in closet. Other bed rooms have standard wall closets (br 3 closet looks to be larger than br 2).

I don't think the golf cart garage is included in the shown prices but can be added if the lot you pick is large enough. No golf cart garage is shown on any of the three plans that I was sent. It would be nice to see what the golf cart garage would do to the overall layout of the home. By this I mean would it be only the length of the garage or shorter or would it be equivalent to a kick out the length of the home.

From my sales rep's e-mail:

All three of these new models come with at least a 2 car garage. A golf car garage can be added if the home site is at least 70 feet wide. A typical home site is 60 feet wide. If you are building your home from the model center then you have options as to what you put in the home, including fans, washer/dryer, window treatments, type of front door, shower enclosure, and enhanced lighting package. The interior and exterior package that is chosen as well as the home site will determine the price. The models currently range from $159,600…the Pearl, to $177,000…the Hammock, to $174,700 for the SeaBreeze.

Hope that helps.

I was signed up for the V-mail through my Rep. You can call them by phone and ask to be put on the list or...when you go on The Villages official site in the gray box on the left you can hit that to chat to a Rep.... after you fill in a few questions.... and ask them to put you on the list.

I like the V-mail but it also includes the magazine which you can view from that site as well.

Hmmm who knew...I actually can instruct someone about something to do with TV. lolol

We looked at the at all three of the new cottages, and settled on the seabreaze liked the open plan and with vaulted ceilings it makes it look bigger the third bedroom is very small with a closet, but we live in the kitchen and livingroom so it will be ok, you can no longer build cottages so look for a an enlarged bedroom or lanai they are building them just not too many, if we would have waited there was one compleated with third bedroom 2ft bump, a month later, but we like our location on the block

I THINK that at this time they are only building designers and premiers to suit. So that you can pick out the things you want.

The other series are being built as spec homes. But I bet there will be a wide variety of excellent things in the spec homes. There was when they were ONLY building all homes as spec homes when we bought our first home here in 2008.

Someone correct me if I am wrong about them NOT building cottages at this time to suit..
