I’d rather vote by mail. I get my ballot and have time to look up candidates that are not familiar to me. My vote is very important to me. Standing in line with strangers in an enclosed space is not.

Bandb875 03-05-2023 07:27 AM

Perhaps a little harder, but not that hard. Why should the state go to the trouble, and expense, of sending a ballot if you have changed your mind and decided to vote in person.

Anything to make it harder to vote.

Anything? Like proof of citizenship or maybe proof of ID? That's just crazy talk! You're right, everyone deserves a vote. Even if they don't qualify to vote.

Let me guess, you want ID to plop your butt in a plastic chair at the square though? ANYTHING to preserve the integrity of the process. Right?

What's so hard about doing all your shopping at a brick and mortar store? What's so hard about seeing your movie in a theater? What's so hard about standing in line for an hour in the sun or the rain when there are too few booths and the gov't made it illegal, yes illegal for somebody to give you a bottle of water while you wait?

And let's make everyone do all their shopping on the first Tuesday after the first Monday, and lets shut down lots of locations to vote in person especially in minority communities while leaving them open in places like TV. And let's have voting on a weekday not a weekend. After all November was picked because people didn't work in November, they were farmers but now it is a workday.

Make it harder for the poor to vote, make it harder for POC to vote, make it harder for college students to vote, make it harder for those without cars to vote, make it harder for those who try to vote to find a place to do it quickly. Because if you do this, and only a few people who are legally allowed to vote leave the long line or just stay home, only a few per precinct, you just might have 11 thousand voters a state skip voting, just the right kind of people to skip voting so your guy wins.

There is no crisis in voting fraud, there is no evidence any election was stolen. There is evidence that lies are being deliberately spread about fraud that does not exist, and that the business that lies about it knows it is lying, admits in private that it is lying, admits in court that it is lying, and doesn't tell its customers to their face that it had been lying for years.

And because of these big lies, we have to register every two years.

Turned out it was about four!

The state spends $ on far more unpatriotic things than mail in voting. We like to receive our ballots in advance & research items such as the judges performances, as well as proposed referendums. Our signatures & voting eligibility are still verified upon returning the ballots.

Additionally folks working or unable to get to the polls due to mobility or transportation issues can still vote.

Virtually EVERYONE in this nation makes it into a Walmart every month so I don’t want to hear it. “Absentee Ballots” are a different story and designed for a different reason…overseas military and the TRULY homebound. Want to fix election fraud, here ya go…just put polling places in Walmart.

People can be on vacation, traveling for business etc. Honestly, I have not been in a Walmart in years. Nothing in there that I want.

Now I am confused as I always check the box on a voters form that I want to continue to vote by mail. I call the number on the form, talk to a very nice lady and was informed that a law was passed that voters need to reregister their desire to vote by mail every voting cycle (I think I got that correct). I was able to do this over the phone.
I almost thought this was a SCAM or SPAM email, so be careful.

I also thought this was a scam and was about to delete it, but a friend got the same message, called the county voting office, and confirmed that it is real. I guess it’s a new law. Interesting that if you want to vote this way, you MUST have a Social Security number (and provide the last four digits) and you MUST either have a Florida Driver’s License or an official Florida ID card. You MUST have an address, and you mustn’t move between now and voting. Recommended are phone and email. If I were hoping to vote illegally, this would certainly scare me off. I moved from one home in The Villages a couple months ago and hadn’t yet changed my registration. People with new addresses have to print out the form, sign it, and send it in. I’ve done that. I appreciate keeping our elections accurate and keeping people from voting who aren’t supposed to vote. Some people won’t want to sign up because they don’t want this information known or don’t have the ID, but if they don’t, why are they voting?

We received the same emails. I happy to look at our voter registration a few weeks ago and noticed that our vote-by-mail will expire on Dec 31, 2022.

I did not trust the link in the recent email. So I logged on to the Sumter County Supervisor of Elections website to renew our requests for vote-by-mail.

Well stated. However I’m afraid that those who only watch an entertainment network for purported news have no idea as to what you are referencing.

Complete BS

Unfortunately we have a dishonest govt. they’ll win the election no matter what it takes. It’s not what it used to be! Dead people vote to too. Guess some may say I’m old fashion, vote on ejection day or all I can say is, sorry about your luck. It’s dishonest if you don’t vote on Election Day ONLY, not mail in so the dead can vote or count votes when It’s in your favor or vote next week when you’re here. I can see why so many people are against gun control, we need protection from our so-called honest govt. & I mean both parties!

Small price to pay to ensure accuracy of voting eligibility, don't you think?
In Afghanistan, people traveled for days, risking their lives to be able to vote while I was deployed there.
Protecting the rights of our citizens (only) to elect our representatives and protecting the integrity of our voting systems should be considered a patriotic duty... not a hassle or even (in this case) a minor inconvenience.
