We are thinking about moving into the Villages. We currently live in South Florida. If we moved into a new retirement development and everyone was new, I could see how you can make friends as you are all experiencing the new Villages lifestyle together. However, if you move into an already established area, haven't most people already established their own groups? Is it easy to make friends under these circumstances? Just wondering!

It's very easy to make friends. Yes, sometimes neighborhoods are established, but everyone is so friendly. Once you get settled, invite your neighbors for a little get together. Join clubs. You'll meet lots of people. If your neighborhood has a club, you'll want to join it. There are so many great clubs. For example, our Parrot Head Club has over 1,000 members. Lots of really nice fun people. Trust me, you won't have any problems !!

Margielyn, I think a lot of meeting new people and making friends has to do with the individual. If someone stays inside all day and doesn't get "out and about" much.......if someone goes out of their way to avoid places where there are people around........if someone shies away from having conversations with people they are unfamiliar with - - - - they're going to have a bit of a problem.

Not that you have to be a social butterfly or anything, but if you're anywhere in TV where there are people, you are BOUND to meet a lot of folks. As Bonny already said, everyone is real friendly.........probably more so that anywhere else you've experienced.

Here's a sure bet for meeting people: Pull over just about anywhere in your golf cart. Then whip out 'The $5 Map' and start looking at it. Somebody will stop to ask if you're lost and need any help. It happens all the time!!

You have no idea how friendly this place is. It is so nice to be surrounded by a group of people who are grown up enough to know where you are coming from. We have the sweetness of the Southerners, the zip of the Westerners, the knowledge of the Northerners, the sassyness of the Easterners and the charm of the Midwest, and mix that together and you have a never ending party with music that is comfortable to your ears.

There is so much to do and so many folks to talk to and so many things to see and such a pretty, clean, site to do it in.

Last week we were showing new folks around The Villages and when we went in to Seabreeze rec center, there was a group of women who had just finished an activity. I said to the group of them that these were people who had never been here and that I had told them how friendly this place was. Well those six or seven girls started talking to our friends and were so warm and wonderful that when they parted they hugged us all. They must have chatted with them for ten minutes or more. We had all been total strangers until that moment.

Come on up girlfriend, and join us.

You will love it here in lower Paradise.

I have found that by just starting to talk to people will assure that you will not be alone. Everyone is friendly and agreeable.

I remember a poster awhile back that had the same concern. She came for a visit and was very surprised at how many people went out of there way to make her feel comfortable.

It's an awesome club. We are Jimmy Buffet fans, but most important is our Charitable giving. We gave over $70,000 this year in money, time & donations. In the meantime, we party alot & have lots of fun. We are so big that we have to have 3 meetings a month. Come to Palmer Feb. 1st. about 4:00 & check us out. That's our first meeting of the month. We bought a home in an established neighborhood, have not moved to TV full time and still have lots of kind, warm, fun, friends in TV. You just can't believe how friendly people in TV are.

All you have to do is be friendly and you will make plenty of friends.

We first rented the CYV that we later bought and the first time we came down as renters, we were invited to the weekly driveway drinks, a village dinner/dance and to a thanksgiving dinner buffet at Orange Blossom CC with a group of 10 other couples. One of the main reasons we bought the CYV was because the neighbourhood was so friendly. And we have rented to 2 different couples for the past 2 winters and the first couple bought a home of their own and the 2nd couple just love how friendly the place is. In fact one of our neighbours drove them to LSL to get their ID cards as they only had the golf cart and weren't yet familiar with the area. You can't imagine how friendly this place is without being ion your face. It is very easy to meet people. Enjoy!!

I have to agree with Bonny. The Parrothead club was a great way for us to meet new friends. Wonderful people and lots of great activities. We also met some very nice folks at the Scuba Club meetings.

Bonny, it was my understanding that if the 1st of the month fell on a Wednesday, that the club would meet meet at Mallory CC on the 2nd Tuesday and Havana CC on the second Wednesday of the month. Is this info incorrect?
