Default outdoor area rugs

Has anyone used an outdoor rug in their birdcage possibly near a pool? Do you use a rug pad underneath and does it hold up to the weather?

We just bought an inexpensive outdoor rug to put on our outdoor patio at Wal Mart. It is something like 8'x10'. I think it is made of something like polypropolyne...I am sure that is not spelled correctly. It does not have a rubber backing. It has already been rained on a number of times, dries quickly, and look like new. It really defines the space and looks great.

Great. That is about size we would like. We almost bought one last night in Lowes but I started to read the instructions and they did suggest a pad underneath . Lowes didn't have the pads so we held off

This is just my opinion, but I think a pad on a rug that is going to get rained on would just hold the water and not let it go through. I just don't think it would dry as well. There may be another reason why they are suggesting a pad though.

Many are indoor/outdoor.
Pad for indoor use.
Outdoors no pad or you will have a wet, moldy mess soon.

We bought our rug for our lanai at Perfect Porch and the pad for it at Lowes. Had many different sizes available.
