Did you contact The Villages Insurance to get other offers? They will typically run several companies and give you the results. When you call Villages Insurance ask them if there are any ways to cut the cost, for example, higher deductible, bundling policies, etc. I have seen several previous posts about higher rates as well as few news articles about the Florida situation. Ours is due for renewal in May.....

Smile Home Insurance Options

Our homeowners insurance through The Villages went up 70%. When we called the Villages to get other options we were told they all went up. No help there. We did our own calls and visits to several agencies. State Farm was the only company to even quote us. We had a roof inspection house 2008 build. We went with State Farm and had a very good experience with agent at Nathan Thomas State Farm.

Ours went up 20%, which we didn't think was bad. We use HH Insurance in St Pete. They got a us a good deal, even though our original roof is 14 years old.

They deal with over 50 companies and search for the right policy to fit your needs at the best price. Great Customer service as well.

Worth a call.

Hi mine thru The Villages Insurance Progressive/ASI is going up about 80% for 7 year old patio villa. Yes it is a rental which I know would be a higher rate. I knew my rate would be up going but given the age and location compared to other parts of Fl. I didn't think that much. I called The Villages Insurance if I raised my deductible there would hardly be any savings and if I would go to another insurance provider I would not get sink hole protection. One thing I did learn from the agent If a storm in the ocean becomes a NAMED hurricane and if it does make its way to The Villages as a tropical depression or strong storm any damage you incur from it is only covered thru your hurricane insurance part not your normal insurance
