Gracie, helping others is always a good idea, but some
methods are easier than others.
When we bought our villages home, we ended up donating
just about all the furniture and items that were still in
good shape but no longer fit in.

I know most have good intentions but I have volunteered at one of these donation sites before and it becomes a nightmare. You would not believe what some people drop off. Pretty soon you have a mountain of stuff that needs to be sorted, stored and distributed. It becomes an unbeliever logistics problem. Much of it ends up in a landfill. Send cash and let the disaster organizations provide what is needed. It is far more cost effective and helpful.

Too much furniture is not the only thing....we all have too much of everything. It's called 'affluenza' and it is a first world problem. I lived as an expat for eight years and extreme poverty is the norm. I am changed forever by living in another culture.
