Customer Service Information:
Ocala Utility Services is warning customers about a bill payment scam that is targeting utility customers. Individuals and businesses have reported receiving telephone calls that claim their electricity will be turned off within hours unless they make an immediate payment over the phone. OUS will never call its customers demanding payment using any prepaid cards or debit cards. OUS also does not cut power to businesses after hours. If customers believe there is a problem with their account, they are encouraged to call 352-629-2489. It is important to increase awareness about payment scams in general so customers understand the red flags and know what to do. Be suspicious of callers who demand immediate payment for any reason. Never give out personal or financial information to anyone who calls or emails you. Never wire money or provide debit or credit card numbers to someone you don’t know. For questions concerning this utility scam, please call 352-629-2489.

I received this from the Facebook connection to the Marion County Clerk of Court.
I suppose that they are pulling this in Sumter and Lake Counties as well as other ones in Florida and elsewhere connected to other Utility Companies.
