Default Villages Charter M.S. "Splish Splash"

On the front page of the Daily Sun today (Sat. May 17th) is a picture and an article about the middle schoolers getting "rewarded" by being sprayed down with a firehose!! Now let me say, I have 4 grandchildren, 2 of whom are middle schoolers in SE Florida so I'm NOT some mean old lady with no family ties. HOWEVER...using our precious commodity of WATER out of a FIREHOSE to reward children????? Come on now!!! Our yards look like hay fields because we can't water, our ponds are drying up, we're asked to turn off the shower while we lather up and then turn it on to rinse and then get out.....but the fire deparment can spray kids with this liquid gold???? Am I the only one that sees the ludicrousy in this? It would have been ecologically smarter and probably cheaper to have put them on a bus and taken them to a water park where the same water is treated and re-circulated and NOT wasted.

I doubt if this firehouse was on full blast. From the pictures, it looks like not all that much water was actually used.

Not a GREAT idea but it wasn't for a long period of time and not a great deal of water, plus the kids had a blast! I can't get too excited about the use of the water for this. :dontknow:

Well of course the hose wasn't on full blast...that would have done great physical harm to the children...I wasn't inferring THAT at all. I was merely commenting on what I considered to be the inappropriate use of water. Sure they had a blast for TEN minutes...but I think they would have had a BIGGER BLAST at a water park !!!
