Why would you nuc your food. Microwaves are not a healthy means of food cooking.

Is it possible that the protective lock function has somehow engaged? On mine when the 'stop' button is pressed for too long it will lock - and then when pressed for 3 secs+ it will unlock. But then there is this video! Microwave Door Won't Open - YouTube

Sorry for your issue!

I wouldn't worry about the difference. If it's for a more convenient size for your kitchen, I say go for it!

I have a 1200 watt and 1000 watt microwaves at both of my houses. I find that the newer 1000 watt MW heats quicker audio hotter than the 11 yo MW. The difference in years is not as great at the Villages home but smaller is quicker and hotter than 1200 watt GE Advantium.

When I read your OP, I had several thoughts. Most would have had me in timeout or expelled for good. The more I think about it, I would like to thank you for the first original post in a long time. I don't ever remember anyone worrying about 50 watts of cooking power before..... but lots of posts on phone books, need house cleaner, recommend a painter, e-z pass, lunch cost too much, electric eye on post light, Christmas lights, home watch, Kattie Belles etc. etc. etc. Let's not forget the big favorite - I hate The Developer. My all time favorite is still "The Wacker" posted by Red Witch awhile ago. Anyone remember that one?

I have a Samsung microwave and it works fine except I had to replace the door 3 times. The handle kept breaking.

It's nuke, not nuc. And do you have some credible proof to back up your statement? Very credible.
Plus, your statement is off topic.
