Hate to break it you! The Villages is not free of problems. Never has been and never will be. We work it out, learn, and move on. There is no need to pretend.

Like other posters, I see problems with Middleton using our MMP paths on a daily basis. Who is going to monitor unattended children to make certain they behave safely and responsibly on them? We have some CRAZY (sometimes drunk) drivers on our paths. Is it a good idea to put children in the mix? I can list more of my concerns but I will stop there. I guess I will have to trust the parents to handle these issues. Hopefully, most are smart enough not to allow their children, even their teens, to meander freely.
So will the offspring of Middleton be any different, than the multitude of Grandparents who thinks it’s cute for their 8 yo grandson to drive a cart north of 44? Or the teens who takes out grandpa’s cart while he is sleeping and runs through, neighbors yards.

Truthfully, I believe the offspring of village employees, will be far more disciplined. Why because it’s their parents reputation on the line for not being able to be responsible for their children. Parents are the faces of teachers, sales reps, retail employees, that their livelihood is based on income, from the residents and contractors, and the developer.

Compared to grandparents who have nothing to loose when their grandchildren do something stupid, other that insurance involvement.

Seems to me that 'non' Villagers have had access to our Multi-Modals for many years. If you lived in the neighborhood of Buffalo Ridge (non age restricted Village) off of CR101-then you can access all the MMP's via a legal cut-through to Woodridge Drive in your neighborhood. While it's not a large community-never once when living in the adjacent Village of Polo Ridge did I hear any discussion about the 'd@@m' young people invading our chinese restaurants or clogging up the aisles at Publix. Coexistence is possible, and I think welcome actually. Somebody needs to be nearby when we all start acting all pompous, entitled and just plain 'old'. I also took the trip down to Middleton from Sawgrass in a golf car late Friday afternoon and am amazed at what's to come in Eastport and beyond. Also looks like, aside from the amazing high school complex, the 'city or town' center of Middleton will bring a lot of retail that we'll all enjoy access to. My glass is half full-matter of fact, it's way more than half full, so if anyone needs any water, give me a call.

Very well said. It’s amazing with others will fret about.

When you were raising your families (or look at your kids raising your grand is),
did you have an extra $10,000 to 15,000 laying around to buy a golf cart?

We had sleds, tobogans, tires, pogo sticks, skates, ten-speed bikes, skate boards, big wheels, hot rods, jumped from trees, back flipped into a pile of leaves, and even drove parents' cars when not watching,..You name it! We were in!

Yes! We were ABSOLUTELY reckless and carefree. At that age, you believe nothing can or will happen to you. We gave our stay-at-home mothers quite a scare. Together, with our friends, we shared broken arms, wrists, legs, bruises, dog bites, swollen ankles....

Kids don't need a golf cart to do something stupid. All they need is curiosity, imagination, and peer pressure. Some are going to do something dangerous-just for the fun of it. You can count on it!

Replace "teens" with "seniors" and you have the same problem...

See all of these posts/comments about these new areas. We live in the Spanish Springs area and comments about these areas are like talking about a new city. Crazy how TV has become so sprawling.

My exact thoughts. I’m sure everyone that complains about the use of the MMP’s by residents of Middleton has led an exemplary life and never complained about things that weren’t offered for their use. As you said, they need to get over it…

I'm a little surprised the Villages didn't (as far as I know) do anything official at the opening like they did for the other Turnpike bridge.

Sort of expected a marching band leading a convoy of golf carts from Middleton
