I have a Mitsubishi 2 ton unit installed in my 3 car garage. Prior to install the garage attic was insulated and the garage doors were insulated. On hot days I often run it only during the day, set to 80 degrees. That is pretty nice considering the lower humidity. It probably increases electric cost $20-$30 per month, so it is well worth it.

It cost about $1,100 to insulate and about $4,900 for the mini split including install about 18 months ago.

Don't waste your time and money with one of those ventilation systems that pull air through vents added to garage door. If the temp is 95 with high humidity, that will be the same inside the garage. That is not a comfortable temperature to want to spend time in your garage. I know because my garage had that set up when I purchased the house.

It does sound worth it. I'm also interested in installing one in the garage. (When we buy. Currently renting but hope to buy this year).
