I gather that it was removed because it was copyright material which this website will not accept. I did note on the post that I was unable to use a link to the article because when I did, the link would direct one to a sign-in page of the publication before one could read the article. Hence, I copy/pasted the article and identified the source, however, it didn't fly.

I will PM you the article, ouma.....barb

Thanks Barb, I did receive your PM. I appreciate your sending it. I want to send the reviewer an email. Even though I am not a Villager yet, and have only made two trips there--one lifestyle, and one one night stay--I am sold on TV and can't wait to sell our home here and move down there. I really resent the reviewers comments as I resent the author of Leisureville's portrayal of TV. Everyone has a right to their opinion however I feel that the views presented were based more on the writer's personal biased feelings, without any thought being given to the basic reasons TV is so popular among retirees. We have all spent a great deal of our lives working, raising children, paying taxes which included supporting education, voting, etc. And the mere fact that we prefer to live and play with our peers and not constantly around children does not mean that we don't like children. On the contrary we love and enjoy our grandchildren. And we also enjoy living an adult life. This, and our desire to live in a safe, well run, happy community does not make us "Stepford Wives" or selfish and non-caring. And I for one thank the developers for affording us the opportunity to live out our lives in a community that makes us happy. What's wrong with that I say.

Yes I too wrote to the author of the newspaper article, protesting that she needs to see for herself that the published book has no validity. She responded with she feels that what was written is the author's opinion which he is entitled to have.

I also requested the Globe please print my protest of this article. I posted the article here because I wanted it to be exposed to TOTV members so that they may have the opportunity to also protest to the person writing this article.

Pleased to learn that you plan to write in protest.

This link does not work for others? http://www.boston.com/ae/books/artic...herefore_i_am/

I do not recall registering for the Boston Globe and I did not have to log-in to see this article.

Gee thanks, Tal. Don't know what I was doing wrong; didn't work for me. Just continued to get a sign-on page.

Thanks again...barb

You are welcome, barb1191. I am reading Pigeons by the same author of Leisureville-- Andrew D. Blechman. He seems to have spent a lot more time on research and writing on pigeons. His attitude towards pigeons seems a lot more benign that the one he has for many Villagers.
