Hi Everyone.
Are the Mokes allowed on the golf cart paths? Not sure if they are too wide? I have not seen one yet in the month I have lived here in the Villages. Let me know. Thanks! |

They look rather wide. The site doesn’t give dimensions.
Maybe some one at district government can help. Village Community Development Districts

Width of Moke golf cart is 60 inches, width of regular golf cart is 48 inches. Some paths like near to sunset point are hardly wide enough for two carts, people sometimes pull their mirrors in. Some turns out of tunnels like the one near Winn-Dixie are narrow, I almost had to curb my cart when a regular size cart turned into the tunnel at the same time as I was coming out. Can you imagine something a full foot wider?

Wouldn’t want one of those things going in the other direction on the Lake Sumter bridge, definitely not enough room.

Well, just because something is labeled as a “golf cart” doesn’t necessarily make it so. If I call my Audi an “A3 golf cart” it still stays a car. There are several vehicles that look somewhat like golf carts.

Given the speed they can do, I would say no.

Would not fit in the lane over the Sumter Lake bridge.

Too wide for Sumter bridge
Might be too wide for diamond lanes Designed for use on the road, not on a golf course Would likely be determined to be not appropriate for the MMPs. Don't know who could officially tell one of those to get off the MMP. District Customer Service would be the right place to start to ask for an official answer.

Yeah no those aren't golf carts. They're LSVs that have to be registered and insured in Florida, but can't be driven on the main county roads (like 441 or 42 or 301 or 466/466a etc). They can't be driven on "golf-cart-only" paths (such as - on the golf courses), and they are too wide to drive on some of the MMPs or over some of the golf cart bridges. They'd also not make the turn in their own lane under some of the tunnels.

However - it doesn't matter, because LSVs aren't allowed on roads where the posted speed limit exceeds 35MPH. |

This company is electrifying the Mini Moke based on the Austin Mini Cooper. So it would basically be similar to driving your vintage Mini Cooper on the Multi Modal path!
