Default Moles in Zyozia grass

Just recently I as well as my neighbors have notices mole tunnels and "dirt fans" all throughout our grass. Called our lawn service and they checked and said we had moles.....not mole crickets but moles. They can treat mole crickets but not moles?? They did apply another batch if insect killer but said we should go to home depot and get some mole killer.

Anyone have recent experience and what was your solution??

Moles feed on insects, so eliminating insects is supposed to help. I would also get mole killer.

they are feeding on the grub worms, especially the big white ones found in Florida. Use the poison bait worms that you put down in the hole. Leave a crack or small opening and they will detect the break in the tunnel, arrive to fix it and discover the bait. Use to be poison peanuts and I think Lowes/HD have something you can use.

I know this sounds bizarre, but we had an invasion of moles in our yard last summer. A friend suggested rolling up Juicy Fruit gum and sticking it in the tunnels. I looked it up on line and saw that others recommended it. We tried it and within a month all moles were gone and the yard had no tunnels. We used about 40 sticks of gum, so don't be shy.

As others have said moles are there in part because of a food source, grubs.

Milky Spore is a proven long term, environmentally/pet/people safe method to get rid of grubs.

Sorry, you will have to Google it because TOTV filters block most links. (sigh)

I applied Milky Spore to our North GA zoysia lawn about 25 years ago. We still did not have any noticeable signs of grubs when we moved 3 summers ago. It was just a one time, easy-peasy application. It also reduced damage to our flowers and vegetables from Japanese beetles.... the grub’s final life stage.

Worked good for us. I expect it could do the same for you.

Is this what you recommend?

Milky Spore

Yes, it is sold at big box stores and some garden shops.

I plan on applying it soon to my 3 yr old lawn here in TV. I have found some grubs as I’ve been planting. But no moles yet.
