Default Insulating My Garage Attic to Stop Drywall Separating

Is this a good idea to stop the drywall seams from separating. I want to have the drywall ceiling repaired and have been advised to not do the repairs if I do not insulate the ceiling above. Anyone have any experience with this or looked into it?

That's correct. The drywall is cracking in part becasue the attic is superheating which is why most repair people won't guarantee the work unless you insulate. But of course, you will have people responding that they don't have insulation and they don't have cracks. Variations are usually due to the way the sun shines on your roof based on your home's position and how good or bad the ventillation in your attic is.

I have just tried a patch product that is flexible and stretches to 100%, I did a test repair about 3 to 4 months ago, and it still looks great. I will need to go out to the garage to get the exact name if anyone is interested.
