Has anyone ever dealt with crystal top finishes for countertop refinishing?

IMHO, most stone tops can be polished to a very nice shine. I bought diamond polishing pads for my angle grinder and use a device to slow the speed down and I was able to shine a stone fire pit. I would try polishing first, I have always been leery about applying finishes after the fact. Also, check on heat resistance, in case you set a hot pan on the counter top.
