It seems the developer should instruct the sales office to get the 800 plus homes for sale sold before taking on more projects, especially with another 2000 very high end homes coming along soon in Fruitland Park.

$250-$300K homes will not be built in the historic section. Think about it!
800 unsold homes is the typical inventory.
They seem to know what they are doing from past history.

Is there a part of The Villages that does not have to pay any amenity fees? I know that sounds off topic, but I wonder if they are trying to get around that somehow.

Or maybe the Developer is trying to keep from happening things like the overly large house that doesn't fit the neighborhood.

I doubt it, but some of the original residents were apparently guaranteed when they bought that fees would not go up, so they're still paying their original amount -- I want to say $50? This was info from our Realtor. BK may know more, or if it's even true.

I heard a rumor yesterday to this effect. Supposedly he wants to put a huge medical complex of some kind over here. I can't imagine needing this much land for a medical complex.
Has anyone else ever heard this rumor?

Another rumor without a single fact.

This is not true. We are original owners and we pay the same amentity fee as everyone else.

I think I can show some homes on this side in that price range. In fact there's one on the corner of Paradise and Boone Ct. as you come into the gate at Morse Blvd.

There's another one on Turnberry lane and two at the top of the hill on Boone Ct right next to the country club.

Take a rise over and take a look. there are many more that by looking at them are at least in the $250,000 range.

I like the 'historic district'. I would love to buy one of the older mobile homes and build a site built house there. Of course, I am not in the position to do it now, and when (or if) I can, probably all the good homesites will be gone gone gone!

I think I made that pretty clear in the OP.

A friend of mine told me that a friend of his saw it in a newspaper. Since neither one of us saw it in the paper I thought that I put it on here and ask if anyone had heard anything about it.

He has become very, very, rich. AND old. He deserves every penny of the money he made. Thank you Gary.

It isn't shameful to be rich. You earned it and created a place where seniors are having more fun than they did in college. You made history, fella, and we are part of it.:BigApplause:

I hope you know that my reply was said "tongue-in-cheek":icon_wink:

My opinion... I don't see anything wrong with asking on TOTV if anyone has any information concerning something a person has heard. I don't see it as spreading a rumor. I see it as seeking information. You made it clear it was a rumor.

If you had come on and said Such-and-so IS happening, according to a friend of my friend, that would be spreading a rumor.

Maybe the friend saw it in the Dreamland Times...

Whoa...No offense was intended. While I agree that there are manufactured homes set on foundations, there are also trailer homes in the historical district that have had the hitch cut off, wheels pulled off, and skirting installed. IN MY OPINION the trailer homes have a dated look, possibly that is why the new homes being built today do not have 2/12 pitch roofs?

Morse to buy out Historic District?

I don't get the logic behind either rumor. There is plenty of land available for cheaper to put a med center. And buying to rebuild? You pay $100k to buy a plot, drop another $100k+ to build anew, and what do you have? A house you need to sell for $250k surrounded by $100k homes! I would think you'd need to buy up whole blocks to make it make sense.
