Default Mortgage Companies

Does anyone have an recommendations for a mortgage company or bank. Personal experiences, good and bad would be appreciated.

Called and talked to a few mortgage brokers. Ended up choosing quicken. The doc processor was pretty inefficient in asking for the same documents more than once but it was relatively painless and estimated closing costs were pretty spot on (a biggie to me having done mortgages in the past).

I have heard great things about Quickenloans.com

Several family members used them and were quite satisfied. I just had a friend purchase a villa and used Quicken and was very happy with the experience. He liked the fact that he could follow the entire process online. He did say that he had to scan and upload LOTS of information but felt it was well worth the time and effort.

With all the new rules put into place following the "economic Crisis", the paperwork is horrendous. That said, we had friends that went through Citizens here in TV and said the process went pretty smoothly.

Another vote for Quicken Loans. We handled the entire process on the phone and on line. They even sent a closing specialist to our home to sign the papers. They do an automatic deduction every month. Easy. Plus their rates were very good.

While it was not a mortgage, but a home equity loan, I just had a really great experience with Community Bank and Trust (Pinellas Plaza). They were able to close a MONTH sooner than 3 of the other banks in that area (2 of which I am a customer!). They offered a great rate, 1% to 1.5% BELOW the other banks.

Also, as previously mentioned the paperwork was a bad if not worse then my home mortgage 2 years ago, but they were very helpful in getting all of this organized.

Hope this helps.

I highly recommend Susan Davis at Bank of America. BofA was ready to close on our house in less than 30 days...The Villages was not. She is local and her cell # is 352-267-2227.

We had a very good experience using Rob Ziebart at Landmark Mortgage Planners (352)304-5700. Good luck!

when i decided to refinance my mortgage i called a few banks and mortgage companies only to be told that the amount of the loan was too small for them. so i called Quicken. the whole process was fairly painless and their rate was good.

vote for Quickens great rates..

but....

after 4 years, they started the phone calls, we would like you to refinance, get you a better rate....lower payments...yeah, yeah, yeah...

people fall for there tack ticks, lower payments means they extend your loan out to 30 years again.....

I knew what would happen with my loan, and said no. But they did call me and try to convince me to refinance at least 5 times...before I got mad and said no more sales calls.

So if you don't mind the occassional sale calls....there rates are pretty good. Except the $500 payment upfront. didn't like that either, but caved in because of the better rate.

Another vote for Quicken. I don't close until August but have been working with them since April. Good communication process and posting documents to the sit set up by them have been a breeze. But like a previous poster, they do tend to ask for duplicate documents. So far so good. I'll know more in August.
