Default Info on preview package

We are coming down to check out The Villages on the preview package for seven nights in Mar. Looking for any info on the preview. Is it a high pressure sales pitch or can we be on our own to check it out?

You'll be on your own most of the time. They'll set you up with a sales agent who will take you to your accommodations, brief you on the golf cart, make sure you have everything you need and set up a time to take you on a tour. During the tour, the agent will show you the highlights and show you model homes. It takes a couple of hours. He was just providing information--nothing more, nothing less. It was about as "no pressure" as you can get! The rest of the time is yours to spend as you see fit.

We visited some open houses, spent time in each town square, saw a movie, saw a show, took the trolley tour, spent time hanging out at the CYV, went swimming, checked out the grocery stores, just drove around on the golf cart, and a bunch of other stuff. We had a blast and wish we could do it again!

We quickly decided that The Villages is where we want to retire and are planning to make that happen this year.

I'm sure you'll have a great time!

That pretty much sums it all up. If you are concerned your trip will be visiting a time share, it's nothing like that. TV sells itself.

I would visit the rec centers in addition to cahweh1975 recommendations.

Be prepared to be blown away by the beauty of TV and it's people.

BTW - Did I mention to bring your checbook?

Don't blink, the week will be over before you know it.

Default Sales people from TV are the opposite of pushy!

um........they didn't set up a time for us. We had to call THEM and ask to see houses. There is no pressure at all to have an appointment with sales.

but if anyone is reading this and thinking that a lifestyle visit is a good way to just come and have a nice vacation, well you may be getting in over your head. Very few come here and don't fall in love with this place.

Go to some classes in the Rec centers that interest you. You can pick up a copy of the weekly classes, etc... at any Rec Ceneter. Play golf , tennis, pickleball, whatever interests you. The sales associate can help set you up with a tee time and also pickleball lesson or whatever you want to see and do. Ask for tickets to a show at The Savannah Center, go to Katie Belle's, eat in the country clubs and hang out at pool and squares where you 'll meet lots of friendly Villagers. And like someone already said, bring your check book!

In case you are wondering about the several comments "and bring your check book" it is because you will probably end up either buying something or putting a deposit on a lot while you are here. Most of us did!

Default Totally agree with the previous comments

I agree with all of the previous comments. We did the Lifestyle visit in May 2011 and told our host we weren't interested in seeing houses as we had no plans to retire to Florida. There was no pressure at all. After doing many of the things recommended in the previous posts and having our friends here show us around, we knew we would be coming back for a couple months in the winter. However, when we went back home all we did was talk about The Villages and watch the dvd. We decided to do a trial run for 6 weeks in August and September, and by October 2011 we were full time Villagers!! Never say never!! We have no regrets and find Villages living a true blessing.

All the best to you! So get on down here and join the rest of us. Your life will never be the same!

No pressure at all. You don't even have to go out with a TV agent unless you want to. Have fun TV is a blast!

You will be shown the home styles and available lots for sale in the new sections.

I always say to look at resale homes for the best bargain. You can negotiate with the seller, lower or no bond, you can see what the neighborhood looks like as it is finished, homes will have all the upgrades without paying extra, no construction going on, and mature landscaping.

Get an agent from an outside agency such as ERA Tom Grizzard or Realty Executives as well as the Villages agent. Neither can show each other's listings.

Our agent dropped us off at the villa, gave us information on what to do and told us to call if we needed anything. No pressure - the place sells itself. Our only mistake was to only do a 3 day tour - at least you went for the 7 day....good move.

And yes ... it took us a few years but we bought a resale and LOVE it! Our only regret was not doing it sooner

On your Tuesday morning between 8 and 10:45 come on over to Laurel Manor Recreation Center and visit us in The Villages Orchestra while we're practicing, we love to have folks drop in and listen for a bit. There're always chairs in the back set out for visitors and our conductor invariably asks all visitors if they play a string instrument!
