Default Havana and Bonifay

Six of us went to Havana for dinner Saturday. Everyone's meal was great (two kinds of salmon, Cuban sandwich, BLT flatbread, stuffed mushrooms), and the servers were professional and friendly.

Ditto for Bonifay, where we went for lunch with neighbors yesterday.

I'm CFrance, and I approved this message ;-D

Great to hear good reports from our Country Club restaurants.

Default Mixed Review

We've had three unacceptable experiences with Havana and have chosen not to go back. I understand that the first restaurant company that ran the restaurant has been replaced, but I think our experience bridged them both.

We visited Bonifay several times and loved it, although I must admit that our visits were before peak dining hours. Last Friday night was a disaster. Our party of four, who had ordered only easy-to-prepare selections were kept waiting for more than an hour before being served. Then, when we were served, one of the orders (mine) was poorly prepared and another hot item was cold.

We weren't alone with the poor service; the mumbling and grumbling from all the tables around us was palpable. A "manager" came around after we finished to inquire of our experience--he didn't apologize, although an apology was certainly justified. I complained about the quality of my order, which he removed from the bill. So all I can say is that for whatever reason, Bonify was overmatched by the visitors that came to their restaurant last Friday night.

Next steps for me? There are too many other choices to cause us to give Havana another chance. And I'll wait awhile to go back to Bonifay, although I do like their pot roast and will be likely to give them another shot.

By the way, we had a couple of horrendous experiences food-wise at Tierra del Sol, after the first operator was replaced with a new lessor. Our favorites continue to be Cane Garden and Nancy Lopez. The rest of the country club restaurants fall into the "nothing missed" category, in my opinion.

I agree re: Bonifay - our experiences have been mixed. I was hoping to hear unanimity that Havana was fixed, as we stay very near it in the winter and our trips their have been so/so at best. We too are fans of Cane and Lopez, but Mallory is our go-to dinner spot.
