One direct hit and you might not get a chance to have another “daily” problem.

We made it! Reports of carts doing 40mph now! I wonder how long before we hear about carts going 45mph.

I keep looking up for satellites falling out of orbit or blue ice falling from airplanes. I know it's not a daily problem but one direct hit and.....

I used to ride a regular bike (not electric) on the MMPs. I would average about 18.5 mph on my rides of 1.5 hours. I had multiple lights on front and back. I did occasionally pass a slow cart. I had mirrors to see if who was coming behind me. Unfortunately it just got too scary out there with cart drivers not paying attention or on their phones. I had several close calls over a few months and decided it wasn’t worth the risk as shown by bikers being hit and seriously injured. I was out there trying to have a healthy lifestyle and to be hit and disabled for life didn’t seem like a good trade off.

So now I am on my Peloton in my house where I am warm or cool depending on the season. Patience is the key for cart drivers, but do bikers and walkers really want to depend on cart drivers who maybe can’t see really well and have slow reactions? I just wouldn’t bet my life on it.

In the 18 yrs we lived in TV this was the most contentious issue and it’s all because people seem to feel entitled and angry. When we first moved there everyone would wave when meeting them and when we left folks would rather give you the middle finger than wave or speak. The attitudes became harsh as so many folks seem to think that nobody should have rules and now this attitude is prevalent across our country. So sad, neighbors don’t even know each other in most cases.

You're right, it can be sketchy on the mm on a bike, once in a while. It doesn't seem too bad in our area. I run the mm more than I bike. I'd rather ride in the dirt at Santos, much safer.

But as I said in a previous post, the vast majority of cart drivers I see are courteous.

We've been avid Peloton riders for about 3 years. We're snowbirds, so we have one here and in Indiana. lol. Great way to workout!

There seems to be much debate and inconsistency regarding the local laws as to who has rights of way in various situations. I prefer to use common sense and follow a much less ambiguous law, the law of physics. I get out of the way of anything bigger and/or going faster. I don’t want to be the person lying in a hospital bed saying, “but I had the right of way”.

Biker Immunity! Self determination of when a stop is needed or not. We may have to take this one to the Supreme Court. Then again,
it may take some time and the biker may have some people beholding to them on it.

And where would that be ???? On a sidewalk…

Look up walking rules in Florida.

Basically walk facing traffic on left edge of road. Only have right way in marked crosswalks unless vehicle can not stop in time before you step in path. when crossing street 90 degree path. Walking two abreast on any street or path where other vehicles preside hogging the path road not sharing it. Even walking on walking trail two or more abreast when walkers or bikers coming hogging the path. Common sense, Safety, and curiosity works both ways.

Seems golf cart out or control posts are as popular as dog poop threads. Pops up every few weeks.

And my case is the polar opposite. We moved in 3 years ago, know almost all of our neighbors, and everyone gives the "Villages Wave" when we pass by...

In newer Southern areas they have walking biking paths only.
