I moved into Duval, Oct.2nd 2006,and love it here.
The area is growing with a new regional rec center Colony Cottage,Truman rec center and a new country club is being built.
Shopping is being added at Colony Plaza,a gas station is opening soon.
Over all it was a great move,in my humble opinion.

Do I understand that all homes being built in that area going towards the new town area are all electric, no gas?

We have friends who just moved to Duval and they love it except they didn't have a choice between gas or electric. Their home is electric and that's the only downside for them.

Our home in Duval is total electric. My wife and I like cooking with gas, however she said the stove we have works great. Smooth top GE. I know that my power bill has been very reasonable compared to old home with electric and gas. Gas is getting expensive. The biggest thing is that we have a heat pump which I am not fond of. Had one, several years ago in Birmingham, and had nothing but trouble with it. I will say that the Trane system installed in my home seems to be very efficient. It is quiet, and the house is very comfortable. Time will tell.
Back to the topic: Love Duval. Right now the location is a little out, but that will change and I believe we will be in the thick of where it is cool to be. All the neighbors are fantastic. the ones I've met anyway. Come on down the water is fine.

So, it's true that all new construction will be electric only?

I was fortunate to buy in August 06 and my house has gas. I'm located north of the Duval pool and O'dell circle.
I had heard all new would be all electric.
Wife prefers electric range and dryer,so only use gas for water heater and furnace.

I guess that we'll be buying a resale close to but north of Duval. Gas for me please! I'd love a gas fireplace as well to take off the chill on those days when you don't want to turn on the heating. Just dreaming i guess.

When we were first looking at our Villa I asked why it was all electric and didn't have gas. The agent told me that they were building so fast here that the gas company could not get their gas lines in soon enough. After we bought we went up to Truman and noticed that they have a gas range. Go figure!
